What I meant was they told me to sign up to the SVT, and then once I'm on supply I need to tell them to transfer me to Zero Fixed Oct 22. But there is no option to sign up to SVT directly.Gerry1 said:
It's basically Zero Fixed Oct 22 or bust. If you're fobbed off with BG Evolve or any other tariff it's like to be more expensive than ending up on the SoLR's SVT, so think carefully and do the sums. You'll have to be very persistent, but the prize makes it worthwhile.elucidate said:
Haven't signed up for anything yet. If I go via the BG brand the only tariff available is one with a £75 exit fee. Might still be worth it lol. I need to get back on the Live Chat and see what the options are. Would have been ideal if I was able to nip the issue in the bud with the original advisor.Inigo_Montoya said:elucidate said:

You can even pay with Variable Direct Debit which eliminates all the problems associated with excess credit building up and the confusion about 'All You Can Eat'.I managed to escape Symbio's SoLR and I've been told in Chats and emails that my tariff (currently the SVT) will be backdated to the start of service. Chat seems to be the only way to get it and you'll have to be very persistent and keep the transcript (take photos because transcripts don't always materialise), but if you like a challenge it might be worth a go.
Did you choose to join the standard British Gas brand or British Gas Evolve?
EDIT: Seems like I can't join the SVT directly but I can go for an Evolve zero-exit-fee fixed tariff. Is that what you did?
I would be very surprised if you can move to a BG tariff when it sounds like you joined / are joining BG Evolve - from what ive read they use completely different back end software so the BG tariff is probably does not even exist on BG evolves system0 -
Just done that, I took a screenshot of the chat and got an emailed transcript just to be safe.elucidate said:

Bit confused about which tariff to join initially though (see my edit to my previous post)!I eventually managed to sign up to BG's Zero Fixed Oct 22 for electricity via Chat. It was agreed on 30 Sep but nothing happened so I had to chase it. Eventually it was all agreed with an order date of 5 Oct. However I was told that it would start on the SVT but then would be switched to Zero Fixed Oct 22 and backdated. It seems Symbio still supplied me until 25 Oct which can't be bad. The final meter readings have still not been verified.Zero Fixed Oct 22 is a cracking good electricity tariff as you'll see if you get a quotation via the link I gave, don't accept anything else. No standing charge, no exit fee. Doesn't get much better than that nowadays ! However, it's expensive for gas unless you are a low user, so single fuel is the answer.
Although there is probably no meaningful difference between the cost of the deemed tariff of E.ON Next, and the SVT of British Gas.
Symbio never supplied gas, so that doesn't come into the equation.
As for electricity in supply region 19, the following rates apply (inc vat):
British Gas (standard variable)
24.995p per kWh / 12.933p per kWh / 24.1233p per day (£88.05 per year)
E.On Next (Next Flex)
25.108p per kWh / 12.777p per kWh / 24.124p per day

So who do you think supplied the electricity you consumed between 03 October 2021 (the date that E.On Next took over all Symbio supply contracts, by order of the regulator) and 25 October 2021 (the date you say BG started supplying you)?Gerry1 said:

My DNO kept saying it was Symbio until on 24 October they said it was BG. BG say they started supplying me on 25 October. I've no idea which one I'll be paying from 3 October - 24 October !dbks said:

That's somewhat of a philosophical question. Who supplied me between the date Iresa went bust and the date when I switched to Eversmart? My meter history according to UK Power Networks says Iresa, the SOLR is deemed to have supplied me between those two dates, in the end I was never invoiced for that electricity so I don't really mind.dbks said:

I suppose the true answer is your are supplied by the DNO as they physically deliver the energy, but the question you're really asking is who is entitled to charge you for that energy and the answer is of course the SOLR.
Anyway, I've just switched two properties to British Gas and have the chat to prove they've offered me the Zero Fixed Oct 22 deal, which will be backdated to the date of my switch.1 -
What would your alternative look like? Would people have gas and electricity supplies cut-off if their supplier went bust? Would they lose credit balances?ivanleo said:I don't think there should be an SOLR process at all0 -

Just cancelled the switch to Bristol Energy, so hopefully the transition from Neon Reef to British gas should go smoothly.
Elucidate the one thing that I have noticed is that there are two versions of the Zero Fixed Oct 22 tariff, one with and one without DD, and the non-DD version is over 21p per kWh.
Obviously you cannot sign-up for a DD tariff on the British Gas website as they channel you towards British Gas evolve, but once you have an account number you can sign-up for a DD here https://www.britishgas.co.uk/help-and-support/bills-and-payments/setting-up-a-direct-debit so I'll do that as soon as I can, just in case they decide to play silly buggers and say I have to pay the non-DD tariff. If I have a DD in place before they switch me, and before I ask for the tariff to be changed, I don't see how they could claim they can only move me to the non-DD version.0
