You can even pay with Variable Direct Debit which eliminates all the problems associated with excess credit building up and the confusion about 'All You Can Eat'.I managed to escape Symbio's SoLR and I've been told in Chats and emails that my tariff (currently the SVT) will be backdated to the start of service. Chat seems to be the only way to get it and you'll have to be very persistent and keep the transcript (take photos because transcripts don't always materialise), but if you like a challenge it might be worth a go.
Did you choose to join the standard British Gas brand or British Gas Evolve?
EDIT: Seems like I can't join the SVT directly but I can go for an Evolve zero-exit-fee fixed tariff. Is that what you did?
I would be very surprised if you can move to a BG tariff when it sounds like you joined / are joining BG Evolve - from what ive read they use completely different back end software so the BG tariff is probably does not even exist on BG evolves system0 -

Bit confused about which tariff to join initially though (see my edit to my previous post)!I eventually managed to sign up to BG's Zero Fixed Oct 22 for electricity via Chat. It was agreed on 30 Sep but nothing happened so I had to chase it. Eventually it was all agreed with an order date of 5 Oct. However I was told that it would start on the SVT but then would be switched to Zero Fixed Oct 22 and backdated. It seems Symbio still supplied me until 25 Oct which can't be bad. The final meter readings have still not been verified.Zero Fixed Oct 22 is a cracking good electricity tariff as you'll see if you get a quotation via the link I gave, don't accept anything else. No standing charge, no exit fee. Doesn't get much better than that nowadays ! However, it's expensive for gas unless you are a low user, so single fuel is the answer.

Although there is probably no meaningful difference between the cost of the deemed tariff of E.ON Next, and the SVT of British Gas.
Symbio never supplied gas, so that doesn't come into the equation.
As for electricity in supply region 19, the following rates apply (inc vat):
British Gas (standard variable)
24.995p per kWh / 12.933p per kWh / 24.1233p per day (£88.05 per year)
E.On Next (Next Flex)
25.108p per kWh / 12.777p per kWh / 24.124p per day

I suppose the true answer is your are supplied by the DNO as they physically deliver the energy, but the question you're really asking is who is entitled to charge you for that energy and the answer is of course the SOLR.
Anyway, I've just switched two properties to British Gas and have the chat to prove they've offered me the Zero Fixed Oct 22 deal, which will be backdated to the date of my switch.1 -

Just cancelled the switch to Bristol Energy, so hopefully the transition from Neon Reef to British gas should go smoothly.
Elucidate the one thing that I have noticed is that there are two versions of the Zero Fixed Oct 22 tariff, one with and one without DD, and the non-DD version is over 21p per kWh.
Obviously you cannot sign-up for a DD tariff on the British Gas website as they channel you towards British Gas evolve, but once you have an account number you can sign-up for a DD here https://www.britishgas.co.uk/help-and-support/bills-and-payments/setting-up-a-direct-debit so I'll do that as soon as I can, just in case they decide to play silly buggers and say I have to pay the non-DD tariff. If I have a DD in place before they switch me, and before I ask for the tariff to be changed, I don't see how they could claim they can only move me to the non-DD version.0
