I am shocked I tell you, absolutely shocked. Why did nobody warn me of the risks?
  • I'm off to live in Russia. They've got plenty of gas.

I DO hope NR are assigned to Shell. Not. Or Scottish Power. Even worse.

Has anyone got any flint? Or a stick?

So when does the new SOLR tariff kick in?  Is it from today or from the date that the SOLR gets appointed?

There is also the fun and games that 3 of the big companies (EON, EDF and BG) have closed their capped variable tariffs to new customers (https://www.telegraph.co.uk/money/consumer-affairs/biggest-energy-firms-accused-denying-cheapest-deals-new-customers/).  How will this play out if we are transferred to one of these 3 companies?
The SOLR will be appointed over the next few days and will start supplying your energy shortly afterwards so you are currently still being supplied by NR or their administrators.

The SOLR will be supplying you at their capped SVR, they have no choice in the matter.  It is only customers that wish to move by choice that are affected.  By doing this though they are in contravention of their licence conditions.

If it's any help, Green Network Energy went bust on the 27th of January, EDF were appointed on the 30th and I was charged EDF rates from the 31st. So you might get a couple more days on NR rates.
The SoLR tariff will be subject to the Ofgem price cap and fixed for 6 months.

oh well. Not sure what I will do, if I can get the warm home discount with whoever I end up with I can manage. Didn't want to go down that route but I am left with little choice. Just getting over a (non-covid) virus that affected my chest pretty bad and with all that I need it's gonna be tough honestly. Without it I'll be tempted to turn the heat down and that doesn't work out well.
Not looking for sympathy of course, just a bit worried about who I'll end up with and if they'll help out.

Knew it was coming though, I just hoped it'd last a little longer but it was clear it was going to be fairly soon.
  • Good riddance to them.  Just annoyed I have lost out on my compensation payments.

6 months fixed was the norm for SoLRs, but this appears to have changed to fixed until the next date the price cap is revised; which currently means until 1 April 2022 - so 4-and-a-bit months ahead.
This is what Shell Energy have done for their recent SoLRs. They took on Green customers from 27 September, and increased their prices a few days later on 1 October (when the cap was raised). And then they took on Pure Planet and other customers on 17 October, and put them onto the same tariff (Flexible 6), stating that it was fixed until 1 April 2022 (i.e. for about 5-and-a-half months).
That's a bit naughty, really. Maybe they've got a Cunning Plan for April? Or maybe Ofgem have explicitly agreed to it?

Am still able to get onto the web portal and was just able to logon to the iPad app on my account. But logged out and tried the stepdaughters and can't get on the app (just a whole load of HTML code appears). (Luckily can still log her in on web portal).  Anyone else getting this?  Edit: working again...odd

Lasted longer than I feared they would...goodness knows how much they must owe creditors. Luckily my stepdaughter and I aren't ones as our balances should both be very slightly in debit.

Just hope Zog keep going through this winter 🙏🤞.

Good luck with the next stage of the saga all.

the only thing I find slightly irritating is that I was owed more than £500 worth of referrals that were never credited

however, I was not really surprised they didnt credit them given they were about to go bust

now to decide whether to cancel the DD or not - the DD have a habit of being very late in being credited & i am worried they may go missing completely now they've gone bust
  • Who ever would have thought it? And it's not even Wednesday yet.....
Oh well, just playing the waiting game now and wondering if my missing November payment will ever appear in my account as part of the switch.
