(and also a copy of windows 10 as that is a machine with no OS, but I'd also really consider linux).1 -

When did you get the PC that sits in the corner?
I would not give up on that just yet.
Work digging it out and having a look.
Do you have the paperwork from when you bought it, that should have the specs.
It might be a couple of simple things can get it going, then if spec upto it look at a couple of cheap upgrades.
Do you know anyone that could help if not comfortable having a look inside the case?0 -
But desktop are not exactly cheap. They start from 500 plus though
A desktop will always be cheaper than an all in one of the same spec, you should easily be able to find one for <£300.
As I said before, all in one PCs are just not a great thing. If the PC fails it means you have to replace both the screen and the PC, which is a massive waste. They are also much more expensive than just buying a desktop and a screen.
This Dell is enough, has an SSD, and is still small enough to sit on your desk https://www.dellrefurbished.co.uk/desktop-computers/dell-optiplex-3040m-60197.html

Unless someone was holding a gun to my head I don't think I would buy from PC world. Argos maybe but their range isn't great.
I'd buy a dell optiplex (always been a fan of these) and a nice large IPS monitor to look at.

If someone was actually holding a gun to my head and telling me to buy from PC world, I think I'd have to take the bullet because I've looked down their range and I can't see anything in your price range with an SSD, although maybe I've missed one somewhere.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dell-9020-SFF-i5-44690-8GB-RAM-256-SSD-4-/373073079582 is a cheaper option.
It's second hand and doesn't have an OS installed. Not exactly what the OP has asked for.
Also laptopsdirect is a good store, which is worth something.

Everyone probably gonna get annoyed with me soon. But here we go anyway
I never bought from Online company's no matter what it is. Maybe i have trust issues. Hence I stick with stores I can make trip too. Tbh I don't like neither pc world or Argos. But Atlest if I ever need return, I can just drive there. Apologies, I know you lot trying to help me. Am just a difficult person
As long as my pc can work on WordPress, Type documents , do very basic editing, and keep my pc secure and last long. Am happy
I understand I said my budget is 400 to 500 but am able to adjust my budget if need be.
I found this on pc world with SSD,
https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/desktop-pcs/desktop-pcs/acer-tc-885-intel-core-i5-desktop-pc-1-tb-hdd-128-gb-ssd-black-10193653-pdt.html
Can someone explain reason for picking SSD over HDD ? It's to do with performance right ? Like boot time , transfer files etc ? Possibly ssd can last longer but couldn't HDD?
What's the rule of thumb exactly ? What specs are important ?

It's your money so it's your call.

Most things on your PC will involve accessing the hard drive. And the hard drive is normally the slowest bit of the computer, so it's what slows everything down. In most cases, it's what makes the biggest difference to speed in 'everyday' computing, although it does depend what you are doing a bit.
The PC you have linked to really is overpriced but it will serve your requirements. If you would prefer to spend an extra £300 to buy something from PC world, then that's your decision. Is there really not a local computer shop you could drive to somewhere, though?
