NO.twopenny said:You're not on your own. Love my laptop with W7. Superb screen quality, back up, tons of stuff. It's just got so worn and bits need replacing. But it's been ages and I'm still looking too. That's why I'm reading this......Might be worth looking for one that has a year or twos AVG/Norton/etc thrown in for free if you're keen on security.
That should not even be part of the equation.
Did I say NO? Just making sure.0 -
Strange thread. Malware-wise, an Apple is going to be as safe as it gets. So don't worry about that. Have you used an Apple before?Biil said:Was on Apple site, Looking at iMac 2019. Looked so good and started speak to one agent on chat and impulse bought it on 24 month no interest , Then I read a article about a basic search malware it's been targeted by , even though it not high. It seems just browsing can infect Mac 😔 ( know feel like cancel in since I got 14 days)0 -

If you are looking for a computer that will never, ever be infected by malware then you are indeed going to be looking forever.
Macs are pretty secure. But there's no way to know what threats will arise in the future for any platform. You just need to take sensible precautions and you will be fine on any OS.

youll be fine with a Mac provided youre familiar with them and/or have a Mac buddy you can ask for help from.@grumpycrab Yes very strange thread , sorry .... That how my life is. Simple tasks are huge task for me, I get Mac's are pretty safe but when I start looking into things. I start doubting. Plus I had good think. Not sure it was wise buy a Mac for basic needs 😅0 -

Did you change the RTC battery at any time?
What are you going to do with the Mac? Cancel or keep?

Unless you are going to swap the HDD within to an SSD yourself, I would not bother. HDD are not suitable as a Boot drive for modern machines.Biil said:So I cancelled my Mac, I don't want adding another monthly payment when there no need, it just make things financially difficult, i
I think am decided. But not sure if these specs are good for the price

Is the above roughly your budget?

Don't buy anything without a solid state drive, unless you are capable and intend to fit one for yourself.
All In One for you is a bad idea.1 -
I imagine that you want an all in one because you are short of space? I don't really know all your requirements so this isn't really a reccomendation, but personally for a new, ocmpact home computer I'd be looking at something like this:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-NUC-Frost-Canyon-i3-10110U/dp/B083YJQ2GJ/ref=sr_1_13?dchild=1&keywords=intel+nuc&qid=1593005709&sr=8-13
And a nice quality IPS monitor like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-32MP58HQ-inch-Monitor-Black/dp/B01AWG5RDG/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&fst=as%3Aoff&keywords=1440p+screen&qid=1593005880&refinements=p_89%3ALG+Electronics%7CSamsung&rnid=1632651031&sr=8-2 , unless you already have a monitor.
(and also a copy of windows 10 as that is a machine with no OS, but I'd also really consider linux).
