Aaaah this is getting ridiculous... Was making the tea and putting it all together to bake when I managed to cut my finger on a can lid. How can a small cut bleed so much...eww!! Then the biggie happened:
I managed to throw a pan of hot salted potato water over my arm while draining them... don't ask!!! I really thought we were going to have to go to my favourite place again..Medway A&E.. Dave drowned my arm in cold water then smothered it in germolene, boy does it hurt and is rather red...... So now I stink of germolene...lol
But I have managed to get a nice dinner in the oven for laterMortgage Free as of 20.9.17Declutter challenge 2023, 2024 🏅 🏅⭐️⭐️

I have filtered and bottled my rhubarb gin. And I have tested it. And repeated the test (twice) as one wants scientifically verifiable results. And it's very nice.

Rosie decided that she wasn't going out today - she is very scared of thunder, and there was a lot of it rolling around our 7-mile wide, bowl-shaped valley. We had a short but sharp downpour at lunchtime and the first of my water butts is already nearly full, even though most of the rainwater off the garage roof was shooting out over the path because someone had moved a length of guttering that runs across the garage roof and it was no longer delivering into the main gutter. I went up the stepladder to check, and at the same time I cleared out the leaves and moss from the "junction". I'm pleased to say that there is no sign of rain coming through the dormers.
I surprised myself by making marmalade this evening. DH likes an orange for his after-lunch "pudding", and the ones that the greengrocer sends are the big navel oranges with very thick skins. It grieves me to throw away anything that is edible, so for the past fortnight I've been saving and freezing the skins. This morning I decided that I didn't have enough room for them all in the freezer, so defrosted some, and with the addition of lemon and lime juices and most of a bag of sugar I have some marmalade which Paddington would be happy with (me too!). The rest of the frozen peel will go into another of my orange cakes (lemon drizzle recipe, without the drizzle, but with finely chopped peel added - I remove the pith and then whizz it in the food processor).
Hope that your boxes all arrived safely, kazw, and that you have a comfortable night's sleep in your new home xx8 -
Gentle hugs from a distance Natty and a virtual tub of germoline for good measure.
Wow Iona, you had a very productive day xx
Updated Mondays post with stuff I finished today as part of WAC from yesterday's list and sorted some frogs as part of 3 X MAD.
Sorted out airing cupboard which is in downstairs hallway, rehomed bits into active Flylady service including my extendable Coving brush and my microfibre noodles flip flops, used expired baby lotion on leather sofas to clean and soften them up, chucked a stray bl00 into the cistern, found DS "lost"console in a backpack we had forgotten about.
Rubbish taken to dump after a 2 HR queue, shopping at Mr T and a quick detour via the beach. De-gibbled the car.
I need to check listy for kitchen stuff but I don't think there is much to cross off.The cold never bothered me anyway9 -
Ouch Natty.
Eek, it's tomorrow already and I've been sidetracked browsing on Amazoo for ages.
Went for a run early for me at 8.20 having read the message from Mr T that delivery would be between 9-10am. As it happened, they came at 8.45 so by the time I got home Mr N had unpacked, sorted it for the 3 households and totted up the bill for neighbour and friend.
Put bread maker on to cook while we were out.
Delivered friend's shopping, lovely to see her and chat across the garden; fortunately her carer was there so could take in and unpack the bags (friend is disabled and can't lift items). Planned to go to the tip on the way home but seeing the sign saying "3hr wait from here" we gave up. Got some brake pads for Mr N's bike; very efficient directing/sanitising/distancing in Half0rds so felt very safe. Animal feed store has started selling bags of compost so got 3 x 40l of peat-free for £1.99 each which is good.
Phone still not behaving as if number has been ported, so Mr N (who is far better at phone conversations than me) had a discussion with a rather unclear Oriental who promised to ring back when she'd found out why the promised porting hadn't happened the day before. She did so, and apart from the irritation of having to repeat all the numbers and details we'd already given her yet again, we got apologies and a promise to 'raise a ticket' and expect results in 2-3 days. I said that was rather poor, as we have elderly parents, one in a rest home, who have this number as the main contact. More apologies. I did a bit of admin on the computer including emailing my mum, brother, bil and a friend, letting them know the temporary phone number. Needless to say, as soon as I'd done that, a couple of emails came through saying our number had been ported. I rang Mum, brother and friend to confirm that the 'right' number was showing. Still can't get caller ID worked out though.
Retrieved yummy looking bread from cooking, that's the second one I've made with the live yeast.
Put away various bits of paperwork and mis-placed items in kitchen. Wiped a few surfaces. Watered plants. Revised running shopping list ready for next Mr T as we forgot a couple of things this time.
Actually had a small amount of rain in the afternoon so didn't need to water much. Kale etc definitely recovering from rampant pigeons who haven't worked out how to get into the net. Filled bird feeders.
Still trying to work out paint colours we can agree on for the bedroom.
May as well check the status of Mr T bookings now and get a July one.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.9 -

skimpies run through the TDrecycling flung.. including the 97 collected small boxes.. I hate cardboard boxes!a skirt with a broken zip BINNED... yes.. binned.. it was a £4 school skirt, and would cost more for a zip then the skirt did.. GONE!Glossed the hallway a second coat..
Had a major wobbly earlier when Mr Amazonia came to deliver a parcel and I couldn't open the front door... then another when I couldn't unlock it a second time when DD2 came round (her gf jumped off a first floor roof and broke her leg and needed pain relief.. mama is first port of call for drugs!) .. so I threw all my toys my dummy and my teddy out of the pram sent OH to B&Q and insisted he replace the lock.. so that is now fixed and he fixed the catch so I don't have to have the door locked ALL the time.. I hate having the door locked. Had there been a fire we would all have died.. it was that simple.. and my beans were as unchilled as that hypothetical inferno!
All in all a productive if unflyish day..
Tomorrow OH has a new sink to fit and I am getting the roller on a roll... and I need £90 ebeast sale to replace the stair carpet.. I know what I want and I will have it!! *stamps toddler foot*

Ouch Natty that sounds painful x
Paid stuff for me today and I need to do the shopping this evening so limited time available for flying. Dailies will be done before work, Friday is my day to change the bedding, will see though if I can get the stairs done as well before starting paid stuff.
ok, time for a cuppa and get myself moving. Have good days all x8 -
Ugh, up since 5 with DS. Worn out already and the day hasn’t even begun! Hugs all round x9

Morning xx
Yesterday I deposited a cheque into my bank account at the PO. Sooooo much easier than going to the Bank. The receipt thingy that the lovely young man at the PO gave me tells me I have been able to deposit cash into my bank account via the PO since October 2018!!!! Oh well, I know now.
Work was angsty - not so much for me but I was surrounded by excitable people and it rubbed off. The masks didn't arrive until yesterday and then we didn't have to wear them until the correct bins arrived. Mrs Top Boss Lady has declared the room I work in as covid secure: as long as there are only two of us in there - that means I can work unmasked, but have to mask up when I leave the room. It didn't spark my claustrophobia. I told people to speak up when they spoke to me with their mouths covered. Probably wore my mask for five minutes tops to pack up and leave the building - cor it don't half make your face hot! The new normal, eh?
I was exhausted when I got home so washed and changed and flumped in a chair. Watched a farm programme on C5 as the farmers from near Barnsley are friends of my colleague (who is married to a famer) and she told me to watch it lol. I'm not one for doing as I'm told, but in this case I was happy to oblige. Maybe I'm mellowing? Nah - I wanted to watch it!
Birds will be fed and recycling deposited in appropriate receptacles before I drag myself trot off to work
Hugs. Stay safe.
