Been to work and prepared for this week.
DW on
Dinner sorted
Numbers crunched again and again to try and see if OH can retire sooner.

Numbers have been crunched here too recently and although DH can't fully retire, he has handed in his notice. He has just ten days work now, is taking the summer off and will then look for something part time like me. We're lucky that we don't need to worry if something doesn't come along straight away, but the relief here is palpable as he was so ill last year and I don't think he could take the stress of his job much longer especially as he's not fully recovered and is waiting for an operation that's been postponed because of Covid.
No flying done since last post, just knitting.Spend less now, work less later.8 -
missychrissy - I had a word with the lovely young man in the PO and if I want to pay cash in to my bank account I just put my debit card in to the machine and hand over the cash - just the opposite to a withdrawal lol. It hits your account straightaway. If it's a cheque I want to pay in I have to complete a paying-in slip - hand the slip and cheque over and they put them into a pre-printed envelope and send to the bank - slight delay in it hitting your account.
Valli - move here - we have a lovely young man in the PO
piggers - I can cope with village PO outsidey, I've only just got a smartphone, I'm not ready for more technology - this is the woman who couldn't get the petrol cap off her new car today!!!! And that's twisty offy.
(Blasted thing just wouldn't come off - my first time filling up so I soon panicked when it wouldn't play and someone else was waiting behind me. I pulled in to the blowy up tyres area and tried again - nope. So I went to see the lovely young man who sold me the car and he just twisted the cap and it came off!!!! I insisted that he wait while I successfully removed the cap too. I didn't do anything that I hadn't done at the petrol station!!!! but off it came. I cannot tell a lie: I drove back to the petrol station thinking: 'I wouldn't say 'no' if he asked' - but he's not going to ask so that's ok (trollop). Not very often someone floats my boat but hmmmm hm)
Towels and tea towels are dry, folded and put away. I also washed the tea towel and window wipey things that came out of Pip. All clean ready to go in to Feargal, P & S came for a socially distanced coffee in the back yard, L rang for a chat, and Dad wanted me to go round and have a coffee in his bubble - strictly speaking he should come here, but I'm sure it's safer for him if I go there. I stayed the other side of the room and he talked for England. He's put Mum's collection of teapots away - I didn't ask what he's done with them.
Hugs
Rxx

Evening all, not sure where the day has gone. One minute it was morning and now it's cat feeding time...lol
Jazee my DH is going to be doing the same as your DH... He's already told them that he won't be going back to work after his two weeks holiday in September. Although I doubt anyone will actually be back in the office by then still. He'll have to go into the office eventually as he has to collect his stuff from his desk/locker and collect his retirement bits from the bank and his boss.
Although he'll have to get a little part time job while we sell our house and move. But at least he won't have to worry about travelling etc....or deal with the silly bank staff he is dealing with at the moment...
Have done the white wash load but didn't get it out as it threatened rain all day, and then it did chuck it down. But would you believe it there is a brilliant blue sky outside and the sun is shining.. What weird weather we do have in Britain...lol
Piggers hope you are resting up when you can, although by the sounds of it your body is telling you too anyway.
Dh is still taking a while to recover, he is now left with the awful fatigue and getting proper strength in his legs again. But thankfully no coughing or those awful rigours as well as the rest of the stuff he had going on... Who knew it would take it out of him so much..but it was so nice not to have the phone ringing with the Covid team/hospital Dr and our own GP. I think I will pop a thank you card into the GP and the Covid team place as a way of saying thank you for getting DH through all this.Mortgage Free as of 20.9.17Declutter challenge 2023, 2024 🏅 🏅⭐️⭐️

Does anyone have a good remedy for smelly carpet? ds spilt hot chocolate on his and didn't tell me! It now stinks due to the milk
I'm in again this week despite having done nothing other than a couple of loads of laundry today - work has been really full on and I'm shattered!! 🙈
Anyway, thanks for the new thread, hugs to all that need them and I'll hopefully report tomorrow that I've been somewhat more constructive!!9 -
Thank you Natty and Valli for the threads x
I’ve been lurking since last week fell apart in so many ways. It’s a new week, I’m pulling up my big girl pants, and going to try to get on with it. I’m back in...DH is at home for another 2 weeks, and getting more despairing by the day. He thinks his days employed are numbered, and he can’t deal with that. DD found out tonight that she has lost her pt job, as the restaurant owner can’t afford to stay shut any longer, so is closing down. I still have my jobs, so not all doom and gloom.
Flying? 1 load of washing before work, dinner cooked, HHI this evening. Think that might be it.8 -

Good evening!
Better late than never 😂 Minimal flying here today. Dog has had a long walk and a paddle, DS's car taken for a service (which involved DH & myself juggling cars, and DH dropping him into work & picking him up - which is about a 50 mile round trip!), grass cut at the allotment, plus some weeding & the last pumpkins planted, WM x1 and kitchen looks okay. A friend dropped off a jigsaw, so I started that as well. My 1st of lockdown 😂 late to the party as usual!
Bed time now, and paid stuff tomorrow. GWS wishes for those still feeling rough, hugs to Fayolle. Night night all!7 -
Hugs for all those struggling at the moment.
Still like a desert here, haven't been threatened with a hosepipe ban yet but all our 4 water butts are empty and we now save all washing-up water in a bucket and put it round the garden.
2 large shrubs pruned and shredded today. Lot of poppies dead-headed. Huge amounts of watering done but good news, the pigeon-proof netting round the kale and peas appears to be working and they are showing signs of growth.
Bird feeders filled; a full time job now with so many youngsters around.
Finalised Mr T order for tomorrow. Now ordering for our neighbours as usual and a disabled friend 8 miles away who has been struggling since her main friend and 'shopper' has been involved in supporting the birth of a sickly grandchild. Bit of a juggle as the Mr T limit is 85 items - sounds a lot, but as things like bananas are counted singly unless you buy them in a nasty plastic bag, it soon adds up with 3 households.
Did some more of online course.
Long chat with my mum, during which the phone acted odd. Today's the day our 'old' i.e. current, landline number is being transferred and they said it would be interrupted for a few hours. So now the lounge floor is cluttered with cables and various electronic boxes as well as the phone. Hopefully it will be up and running tomorrow so we can decide what to stand it on to make the place a bit tidier - it used to live in the hall.
Vacuumed lounge and dining room. Not too much clutter to relocate.
Vacuumed hall and conservatory.
Washed kitchen floor after Mr N had a mishap with a glass of red wine.......he was most upset as it was the last drop out of the wine box and another glass broken.
Tried unsuccessfully to contact friend re dog walking; my fellow dog walker said that her car wasn't on the drive so presume she was out. If she had tried to ring me, it would have been when the phone was doolally.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.9
