Good afternoon!
I got up (eventually!), had a shower & hair wash and decided to clean the bathroom while I was there. So the toilet, sink, bath and shower have all been scrubbed, and the tiles in the shower cubicle. I have also checked my bank accounts and emails, and inspected the garden after the rain, dispatching a few snails as I saw them.
Iona you have my sympathies! I had a run of bad luck with water over the last few years, including a leaking roof (I still have a hole in my bedroom ceiling!! A major frog!!), leaking plumbing under a concrete floor, followed by leaking water pipe outside and 2 broken toilets. I am not a fan of water!! I hope you get it sorted soon.
Time for a little listy….
Round 1
Mend DS's jeans
WM x1
Lunch!
Ok - off I go!

Round 1 complete - the jeans were a little tadpole that needed munching, so feeling a bit smug now
The sun is out now, so I will hang the washing out when it has finished.
I am not sure what to do next. I could pop to the allotment with the compost, or I could bake some muffins.....
Of course, I could stop procrastinating and do both!! I will just drink my tea first...……..

Funny you should mention water ingress.. 2 of OH's friends have indoor streams... one through the hallway and one a windows waterfall... that actually sounds quite pretty! Which reminds me I need to check the back door which had water coming THROUGH the wood last time it big rained! I really need a new door.
Having a cuppa.. OH is feeding the girls then they can do school stuff.. and I will be stripping the next leg of wallpaper. The hallway is looking pretty fabulous.. I REALLY want the new wallpaper on.. I am not sure yet what to do with the stairs. They currently have a stair runner which is bald in places.. heavy use for 15 years would do that! So, I need to replace that.. 15m of carpet.. so my paypal is saving that up for me..
Broken bit on new sink unit is being replaced by the seller so hopefully that will come sooner rather than later because my bathroom is getting soggy and the sink is next to useless.
I have been updating my list on page one and it is slowly getting done.
We are rather struggling for laptops with me, OH and the 3 girls having learning work to do and Twinkle hasher nursery chat today. Apparently 3 is not enough.. he has the NVQ stuff for work and I have just done a level 3 in nutrition and fitness, level 4 teaching assistant and level 2and 3 creative writing... I'm not very good at sitting doing nothing.. so these are what I do while knitting on an evening.

Feeling totally wiped out so I am on the sofa in pjs. Kids having a very very lazy tea of pesto pasta and garlic bread. I am having curry. It’s raining cats and dogs here so the washing is over the airer with the dehumidifier on. Hoping for a better night sleep x10

I got a bit carried away and stripped the hallway all the way to the top of the stairs..
DW been on
Been to the Range for cat food and purchased a masonry roller so OH can reach the super high landing ceiling.. we may end up taping a brush to a pole to get the top edges!
Remembered to buy handwash seeing as ran out in the loo.. my next 5L bottle isn't due here until the 3rd July.
4 nails fixed.
I am getting a book together with the required sizes for each room so I don't have measure it 1000 times for carpets and amount of wallpaper and types of lightbulbs they each require... This is utterly sad I know.. but I am fed of measuring everything 1000 times before buying what I need. I can also add any jobs which need doing in those rooms too.. I do know how to have a good time!
I need to locate and update my toots list.. It may have a few bits I can cross off.. a miracle may have occured!! lol

Iona, I hope you have got the leak/s fixed. I hate water too. We still have a damaged ceiling in the boxroom which is the result of a tank bursting in the loft. Of course, nobody would buy a house with ceilings damaged like that in 3 rooms, would they??! And more to the point, still have one like it 13 years later. On reflection, I think that I need to unearth my Toots list too...
Work done until lunchtime, then I set off some butter chicken in the sc for dinner. It made the house smell fab, especially as it has been torrential rain outside all day. I am the proud owner of 5 full water butts again. Rhubarb and ginger jam made and potted. Hair washed, ensuite cleaned, bedroom dusted and vacuumed - all in the right order for once, so the pile of hair that I am losing has been cleared away. Vacuumed the rest of upstairs and the stairs whilst I was at it.Dinner done, packup sorted for tomorrow, tomorrow’s dinner out of the freezer, WULTD, and dw running. I think that I can finally sit down and catch up with sewing bee.11 -

DS1 called round this afternoon and checked out the toilet problem. He reckoned there was a leak somewhere at the back but left it for the emergency plumber to deal with. DS1 will come back another day to help me trace and access the water that's been going through the LR ceiling.
DH is driving me demented. Before DS1 arrived, DH took umbrage at being told that (as DS1 had requested) he had to hide away in the garage while DS1 was here, so he took himself out in the car, called at the pharmacy for his meds, and then not simply phoned but went in person to the car dealership to see about the back passenger window which keeps dropping open - yes, during the downpours of course. Against my better judgement, I have fed him and penned him into the LR with a cuppa and Rosie, to keep them both out of the way. Poor Rosie hasn't had her walk yet!
The emergency plumber has just arrived and, using a very useful mirror-onna-stick, has discovered that a rubber seal on the pipe leading from the cistern to the back of the pan has perished, so he is able to repair it. Thank goodness, only clean water has been escapingBut most of the floorboards will all need replacing
so my Toots list will get longer.

Iona.. I have the copy of the house deeds somewhere.. but possibly in the loft. I will just go round tomorrow with OH and a tape measure and measure for carpets and curtains and height to calculate area for wallpaper/paint etc. I always over estimate and end up with loads spare I never use. the hallway stuff I am currently stripping I have 3 rolls of under Pixies bed.. it will be flung next time I am in there. My house is bigger than all the others on the street.. and has a very old double extension which would not have been allowed now.. brick wall build on floorboards between joists anyone?
I too have water damage to the kitchen ceiling.. I think it is from the shower being put in but it isn't getting any worse and the mould appears to be dead.. it was black mould! I need to bleach it a few more times and then I can cover it with paint.. It is a never ending task in here.OH got an interesting message from work... all employees have to be clean shaven... erm.... looking for a new job then!?
I smell like a bear... this wallpaper stripping is HOT work... it is wonderful, I have been cold for so long I forgot what a sweat was!!! I don't like it! lolLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)10 -
