Valli said:Dishwasher man has been; it is, as he suspected, a powerboard issue. Two options - new powerboard £130 (ish) + VAT or a new dishwasher. Given the dishwasher is 8 years old I'm going to go for new. So I'm looking for a fully integrated one.
Any recommendations? And you wouldn't touch with a bargepole?
My new Samsung washer is an absolute pile of the proverbial... my last 2 were amazing.. this new one is pants! Don't get one of these! I hated it from day one. The filter casing has cracked and is piddling water everywhere.. and now has water inside the workings so it is throwing error codes and not working at all.
I have finished the cardigan sleeve.. sewn the sleeves together, picked up the stitches for the skirt of the cardigan and now have (for those who knit to sympathise!!) 245 sts and 22cm/8.75in of plain st-st.. then 4 rows of seed st.... I will be losing the will to live.. I will however be able to knit.. in the dark!!!
DW run through a clean cycle
Tip pile building .. must buy Twinkle a new rainbow ball.
I need to change my bedding tomorrow (FINALLY!! I can take off the sheets OH bought and put my lovely cotton ones back on.)

going back to dishwashers.. this is where I sound crazy.. Loads of the new ones have a cutlery tray in the top.. I didn't want one with that.. I hated it the week we were in the caravan and it had one of those.. that was something I wanted to avoid. I also have to have plates stack side to side. The cheap second hand one I got while I saved for a new DW the plates went front to back.. theywere impossible to get in and out and the tiny plates had to go at the back and the bigger ones at the front and it upset my sensibilities..I had VERY specific needs.. bosch, white, side to side plates, no cutlery shelf and adjustable top shelf. ... You should see me buying these things!! lol

Good morning!
I am awake early and am laying in bed with a cuppa. It has rained all night, and it is on nights like this that I am glad we got the roof fixed!
Re Pigpen's observations on DWs - it may be worth keeping hold of the cutlery basket from the old DW if that is what you prefer. I believe the cutlery trays at the top are removable, but you would have to check!
I will get up in a while, and then make a list. It would be good to get some indoor jobs done....I need to walk the dog as well.
Have a good day everyone!8 -
Morning all
Gently raining here. I’m off to work shortly. DH at home to do “loads of jobs”.....apparently - *sigh*.
Baby backbirds are squawking and flapping on the fence while mum and dad chase around the grass for worms.
Piggers - 245 stitches would make me feel that 1 row was a great achievement. But then I seem unable to knit without looking anymore. I guess if I practised and actually finished my jumper, it might help improve my knitting!Flying scheduled for when I get home. Have a lovely day all.9 -
Pigpen, you have described me exactly. Things that are not designed with a logical layout drive me crazy. This new-style forum layout, for example - when I quote, I always seem to end up forced to write in the quote box.
It's rained all night, so hopefully my second water butt will be filling up nicely. I had planned to pop down and see a recently bereaved neighbour this morning, but since I cannot go into her house, I don't think standing on the doorstep to chat in a downpour will be very pleasant. It will have to be a phonecall instead.
Hoping that I can achieve a bit more today than I did yesterday (I binged on soggy undercooked Twinks instead) Rain is forecast throughout today, so I doubt that Rosie will want a long walk this afternoon. No excuses not to tidy the study then.
Hope everyone has a productive day. (((Hugs))) all round, as needed xx9 -
Morning all,
A rubbish sleep here, but that's because I'm now officially on day 2 of my sugar detox 😱😱 so my tummy was wondering at 2am why I hadn't scoffed toast and biccies around 10pm as normal. I have two stone to lose and I'm on a mission!DW has been unloaded, WM is on, text sent to deal with tiny frog, accountant emailed, dog walked. Will be taking DS to school in a minute and need to call at PO on the way back.
Valli, I also have a Bosch xx
Right will pop back later have lovely days all xx8 -

Morning ladies - wet and wild here, but I love that and just sorted out the chicken and goats in my spagetti strap jumpsuit and wellies. It's a good look. Mascara running down the face maybe not quite so...
DW emptied and part refilled, so I think by lunchtime that will go on. WM on first cycle, boys fed, step daughter conracted to thank for her fabulous editing skills on the promotional video for our new poultry breeding business and the dining room tidied and dressed with a beautiful vase of Sweet Williams that my lovely friend popped round with yesterday (plus 5 mini bars of salted caramel chocolate which I am being very strict about, as I too have a serious amount of lardage to lose - I hear ya ASB!)
Cup of boiled water - meh - after my breakfast shake and a quiet few minutes catching up on the news.
My DW is a Bosch. I have only ever had Bosch, and I've always been super-pleased with them. They clean well, they're quiet, energy efficient and last many years...ticks all the boxes for me.
Update on decorating (as I have slight hallway envy Piggers) - my dining room is very, very nearly finished. Just a couple more bits and bobs to get and/or sort and I'm there. I need recommendations on a plant that does well in a hanging pot please, as I've got a butchers hook in the main ceiling beam which is crying out to suspend something...and I'd rather it wasnt DH...(joke, well, sorta)

Disaster! Water is leaking from around the base of the toilet bowl in the upstairs bathroom, and when I pulled back the loose corner of vinolay to check what was wrong, it must have been happening for a while because the plywood flooring underneath is wet and stained, the back of the vinolay is mouldy and there is a horrid smell. I have spent at least an hour and a half on the phone to the insurers and the associated home emergency company, who will send out someone between 4.30 and 6.30 to effect a temporary repair (if they can).
Also, but probably separate from the toilet problem, is a leak in the LR right above DH's chair, which wasn't there last night. Maybe I spoke too soon about no sign of the dormers leaking!
I foresee a difficult month ahead8
