For those planning rooms/decorating/moving furniture etc, Sweethome3D is a free and fairly fun web site; you can mark out your house with room sizes then select furniture to scale and drag it around to see if it will fit or what it might look like. We're still grappling with paint colours, on which note one of the best things we've ever done is write the name of the room on each tin of paint, then when you need to repaint or touch up, you know what the colour was called as they seem to change so often.
Hurray we've had rain all night and much of the day, so the plants are looking better, water butts filling up and the pond reaching a better level. A couple of leaks in the conservatory roof made their presence known.
Rather a wading through treacle day today. Finally decided on the paint for the bedroom, rang H0mebse to get the price and they couldn't find the colour name or code, despite Mr N quoting it directly from an April 2020 web site. They also aren't doing c&c so we will have to brave the actual shop.
Various trials and tribulations with phones; after a lot of fiddling managed to get Mr N's mobile able to be answered when it rings - some obscure setting meant that although it rang, you couldn't answer the call. Tried various ring tones on land line so we can hear it from the garage etc now it's in the lounge rather than the hall. Still can't get it to display name or number for incoming calls; it just says 'external call' so it is treating us like a multi-office business.
Did various searches on gas and leccie as our current fixed price is coming to an end. More trawling through sites, leaving messages (which were returned when Mr N's phone was unanswerable!).
Left a message with a plumber as we have a leaking loo and a leaking outdoor tap. No reply yet.
Proof-read a letter my brother is writing to his MP about self-employed inconsistencies in compensation. Gave a load of comments then had a Zoom meeting with him later to go through them.
Went for a run in the evening, tried a new route and ended up doing over 7km which is a record for me. Still want to put it on my running log book but the signal failed on the phone app and the footpath marker on the PC version of the web site aren't working.
Couldn't stand all this time without drumming any more, so bought some cheap bongos on Amaz00........
So all in all one of those days where we set out to do a lot, but it didn't all work out. Dailies done but minimal actual cleaning.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.11 -
I have a spiral note book for the house move, I divided it up into sections, old house and new house, each room was measured, all windows measured, all large bits of furniture measured, including stuff in the garage, that book has been nearly everywhere with me over the last 6 months, and has been invaluable on several occasions, and saved me loads of time, so go for it ladies.I also will not be getting paper deeds for my new property as it is all electronic.Today is mainly unpacking the last few boxes, and finish off sorting out what goes where, that is taking time as I have so many ornaments etc......... I think a very big ebay sales is going to start soon, I'm not ready to go car booting yet, maybe next year.Have a good day xBreast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

Good morning!
I managed to take the compost to the allotment, but no baking yesterday. Maybe today, maybe not!
Paid stuff today, so I am up, dressed, breakfasted and dog has been walked. Got in just before the heavens opened, so that was good timing! I have also poo picked in the garden and emptied any standing water. Hopefully the rain will stop soon so we can play outside, and do some painting in the garden
I need to do the Friday money juggle, put the dog upstairs (it's his own fault for being a grumpy dog!) and hopefully get dinner started and in the SC for later. I will also empty the DW, and wash up the pots in between playing.
Have a good day everyone!

Great progress, Kazw!
Pigpen, I wasn't referring to house deeds. What I meant was the estate agent's sales blurb with descriptions and sizes of the rooms. But I suspect that not many people keep those - I am a family history hoarder, so I tend to keep them as a record of where I've lived.
Fayolle, you did a lot yesterday - put me to shame.
Enjoy your bongos, Narc0!
It's rained overnight, and this morning the patch on the LR ceiling is much bigger
I have discovered a patch on the wall next to the dormer window above the LR, so I suspect that the two are connected and the flat roof is leaking:
Some water has come through the ensuite ceiling from the bathroom above, and I'm trying to dry out the bathroom floor in order to assess how much will have to be replaced, but the ancient oscillating fan has given up the ghost in disgust.
The physio has rung me and will now refer me onwards to the main team, which I suppose is progress.
Today I need to
- tidy the study so that I can...
- ...transfer all books from the bookshelves to the bed;
- unscrew the bookshelves from the wall, if I can, and move them into the bedroom;
- empty the c-o-d (mainly wrapping paper and old computer stuff, some of which DS1 might take away with him);
- be ready for another visit from DS1 to discuss the next steps
- take Rosie for a walk
Meanwhile DH says he is going up the stepladder to clear the gutter above the front door (blocked by a lump of moss on top of the gutter guard) and the short downpipe and gutter over the coal shed which is also blocked. He really shouldn't be doing things like that, so I suggested that he asks A (who came last week to sweep the block paving and move the waterbutts) to do it, and surprisingly DH agreed. A says he will come this evening
Will report back later xx8 -

The woman who we bought it from gave us her copy of the house deeds so I have the details on there but it is all in the loft.off to feed the girls and maybe move my bone idle derriere

Hi all
Tough week at work, lots of pulling on the big girl pants and standing up for myself, which doesnt always come naturally to me. I can see problems with one of the bosses slowly getting worse, my line manager is lovely but she is probably going to retire soon and that could make it all a lot harder. Ah well, its Friday.
Exercise class done first thing, havent done any yoga all week so might try to do some tonight. Or I might collapse with gin and crisps instead! Everywhere dusted and hoovered, laundry all up to date, tea is something with oven chips (gammon, veggie burgers or fish fingers depending on what they prefer).
I must submit the next module of my course tomorrow, and type up some minutes for my voluntary job. Hopefully going for a long walk somewhere on Sunday with DS2 while DS1 and DH go fishing.9 -

All vacuumed too.. and I bossed people to move their detritis or it was being binned..

Another day with a lot of admin but a little more successful than yesterday.
- 1st plumber didn't get back to us so contacted another, who will come on Monday, having given a quote after Mr N WhatsApped him a photo.
- Finally got through to power company to question their recent offers, renewed fixed rate for another year.
- Big girl (and boy) pants on to brave W1ckes as that seemed best for paint. Got wall and ceiling paint we liked, also some soil conditioner as we've emptied all our garden compost bins.
- Started dismantling bedroom ready to decorate. Moved books into my study so bookshelf could be taken off wall. Balanced space with money and ordered several books in Kindle form which will free up space on my bookshelf. I have too many jewellry/hair accessories boxes.......not that I have anything of value.....but they take up so much room so I need to think of a major consolidation so the dressing table is less cluttered.
- Arranged to have car park coffee with my brother tomorrow as he has business not too far away. Haven't seen him since end of Feb I don't think, so it will be great even though we won't have long.
- Managed to put yesterday's running route on the web site log book using a different browser.
- Did a lot of research for a friend having problems. Had a Zoom meeting to try and help.
- Checked bank account, confirmed cc paid, checked changed details of a standing order.
-Filled bird feeders.
- checked and watered greenhouse.
- Made cheese and haddock souffle which I'd been intending to try for a while. Not too bad but we ate too much as it didn't look as if it would re-heat well to finish off tomorrow. Home grown raspberries, gooseberries and a couple of strawberries in with the fruit salad this evening.
