Cranberry Vodka
a bit like sloe gin but use cranberries instead. turns the vodka reddish pink, and the cranberries are lovely as a sort of sorbet when you remove them. Can be quite sour so some sugar is needed.
Lemongrass and chilli Vodka
Take a couple of stalk of lemongrass and bash them and a couple of red chillies and !!!!!! them all over with a fork add to a bottle of vodka with some sugar syrup. shake often.. not sure what this tastes like yet have just made it will let you know0 -

Following on from the raft of lovely food recipes, I thought we should all pool our booze recipes. Reading about Mars in Vodka reminded me
FYI, I have tried filtering cheapo vodka, as mentioned on here some time ago and can report it really does work, so as a money-saving tip, buy cheap vodka (assuming you already have the water filter!)
The only drink I have had was years ago when someone at work used to bring in HM Damson Gin at Xmas. To die for, and I wasn't a gin drinker then.:D
As far as I can remember, it goes like this:
Bottle of gin
Damsons (other fruits can be used esp sloes)
!!!!!! Damsons all over with pin. Empty a little gin out of bottle (into your galss, obviously) Push fruit into gin and leave for at least 3 weeks, the longer the better, actually.
Come on folks - list them here. Think of the cheap and interesting tipples we could have for the summer barbies or at Christmas.0 -

I've seen a website about that somewhere before, long before MSE days, and always wondered if it would work! That's also where I heard about the mars bar in vodka, but never tried it myself ... yet
PS, I used to make my own version of Baileys with condensed milk, camp coffee, Irish whisky, and ... ermmmm ... I can't remember the rest, or the quantities LOL!"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

For those of you who haven't trawled through the thousands of useful posts on this board, the filtering of vodka is simple.
Take 1 bottle of cheapest vodka, Filter through an ordinary water filter 5 times. It removes all those nasty 'harsh' elements of cheap vodka and really does make it taste smoooooth.
I then filtered water through twice, (which I poured away, even if this is counted as wastefuland it was fine for normal use afterwards.
I did read somewhere recently that even the most expensive vodka doesn't cost more than 20p per bottle to make. Someone is making money out of this somewhere ....0 -
Just managed to find the website with full step-by-step instructions, colour photos and amusing anecdotes throughout the process LOL!
Ooops sorry sis, didn't realise you'd posted instructions already"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

Vodka from Turkey would be good for this, costs pence if you buy Turkish made stuff.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

Skittles vodka is nice too! Wirm posted it up in the old forum and I have tried it lots since then.
Basically same idea as sloe or damson gin. Take a little vodka from your bottle and pour in a family bag of skittles. Put cap back on and leave for a few days until the skittles have dissolved. Drink really cold as a shot. It is yummy although the colour leaves a lot to be desired0
