Hello all
I've had a wobbly start to the month but hoping it will pick up very soon. My hay fever is AWFUL this year - as bad as I can ever remember it being. I had to take myself to a pharmacy yesterday for stronger tablets and eye drops and I still feel quite uncomfortable a lot of the time. So I spent money there.
Needed a new laptop charger urgently as it broke when I started work yesterday morning. Paid £50 for a universal charger same day and it was most definitely not universal as it didn't fit my laptop.Ended up getting all in a tizz and having to abandon work and order one from Amazing when I found someone who could help me get what I actually needed. That arrived at lunchtime today so I'm back.
Family issues involving police/social services with my nephew and my sister's ex husband, which is a bit concerning but at least we're getting help now.
I wrote yesterday off and planned to pretend today was the first of the month. Good idea.
Was at work today looking after key worker kids. Free feedadults to speak to
and a socially distanced cuppa with a friend after work
Said friend gave me plants
which I am going to attempt to grow. Probably unsuccessfully if I'm honest. Got home to new laptop charger that works, kids that had tidied and put rubbish out, and dd in the garden having a socially distant pizza with her bestie. Happy days. Still didn't get much work done but today has been infinitely better than yesterday in all aspects.
I daren't consider my current financial situation - it is still pretty awful.
Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Grateful today for feeling more motivated to maybe get some things done (ha ha!), for washing and drying the lounge rug and getting it back down again, for dh having extra work, for working with some people who are just so good at communicating via email, for discovering some poppies are growing in the garden at just the spot where I hadn't planted anything.

I went out to do watering part two before I came on here today. Went out after a toast break and did lots of stone shovelling - Mum has had the garden made 'easy maintenance' by putting stones all over the beds. It's 6" deep in places, higher than the edging so it needs sweeping up all the time and walking across it to get to the bird table isn't easy, I have to hold onto the fence to avoid slipping and falling. So although it's going to take a while I have been pushing excess stones onto the flags (easiest way is to make a swathe through it using the side of my welly, holding onto the fence for stability). I'm then going to level off the soil (slopes sharply to the back so rain runs off it) to below the level of the edging, allowing for a thin layer of stones on top.
Slightly discourages by the useless websites I tried yesterday and finally wrote down the phone number down and did the order by phone (paying by cash in an unsealed envelope). I am having a bulk bag delivered on Thursday (no delivery charge for under 10 miles) as it's bin day tomorrow and dodging bin lorries and bins on top of all the wfh cars would have been a bit much. Decided the bulk bag would be neater and I would still have had to haul individual sacks up onto the trolley to bring them inside, so it's just as easy (possibly easier) to fill buckets and containers from the bulk bag then load the trolley and put things where I want them. Has messed up the money though because I'd given mum cash for the order that hasn't gone through (some websites just cannot cope with different delivery and billing addresses) and then I paid for last Saturday's shopping as mum's bank wanted to send a 'one time code' to the phone they had registered (which may be mum's partner's son's as he helped her set up the account). So mum owes me money and I will have to fish out the cash I put in the savings pot (I'm ahead on my savings plan but it seemed easiest to put it in there). Must make sure I write down where we are up to or I'll end up out of pocket. Yesterday was a NSD but I may buy some books and a jigsaw or two today using mum's card to reclaim a bit of what she owes me.
Finished planting the side bed (mum has been 'tidying' and I haven't been able to get near) and added a little extra soil, did some weeding and a little soil reclamation by the path outside the gate and finished with more watering. I took some sliced lamb, frozen chicken breasts and two steaks (fairly thin) out to defrost. The chicken will be tandooried (eat hot or cold, with salad or a wrap), I warmed the lamb and had it on wraps with red onion and leftover bits of yellow pepper, once mum had decided what she wanted to eat and the steaks were just there and I'm trying to use up things that have been around for a while and are easy to loose.
Today I am grateful for getting things done (especially some of the difficult, heavy bits), for the daily miracle of hot shower water, and all the things that make hot sun tolerable.

Morning, Day 3, and another NSD yesterday. I had a lovely cat hug yesterday and today. I am trying the 3 things idea. Not to leave a room without doing 3 things. A work in progress as sometimes I forget!
Today I am grateful for:
Confirmation that a cheque reimbursing me is in the post
Being able to work from home
Having a supportive manager
@abundant1972 I also do ketogenic, being diabetic it is the most effective way to get your sugars down. Also did IF. But like any programme it is about sticking to it. I just find keto expensive. Carbs are so much cheaper and goes a long way when you are trying to save money on food.Starting Total in September 2019 = £38287.77

June Challenge Day 3
Just Breathe
I've tried a number of breathing techniques over the years - from yogic breathing (age 8) to mindful breathing (nearly 50 years later). I can't do any of them (properly). Mostly they involve breathing IN (slowly) and OUT (slowly). IN through the nose (that's the bit I can't do) and OUT through the mouth. Some recommend counting for a prescribed length of time. None of it matters except for breathing slowly, in and out, being aware of your body, slowing your heart rate, allowing sufficient air into your body and stilling the 'fight or flight' response to anxious situations.
Just Breathe when you find yourself getting into a cycle of anxious thoughts
Just Breathe when you find yourself at loggerheads with your loved ones (it might help to remove yourself to a quiet place first)*
Just breathe when you are frustrated by the tedium of lockdown or difficulty accessing certain products.
Just breathe when life is busy and you are weary.
Quotes
Deep breaths are like little love notes to your body
When I started to pay attention to where my breathing was deep and settled, the truth began to emerge from the mist
As long as you are Breathing, there is more right with you than wrong with you, no matter what is wrong
* I'm not saying you need to constantly be a little ray of sunshine. If things need to be said, you will say them better if you are calm and clear in your own mind first, rather than it turning into a tit for tat series of petty recriminations. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage7 -
Morning, hopefully NSD 3 today
crazy_cat_lady my hayfever used to be terrible, but I got a prescription for a corticosteroid nasal spray a few years back that has been a complete lifesaver, not sure if that would help?
Yesterday was very disappointing, called to see if I could pay the early repayment on the mortgage so we can remortgage, turns out it 2% not 1% so cannot afford it and it doesn't make financial sense to do it. Feel like an absolute idiot, as I was sure it was 1% and was speaking to a mortgage advisor.
Today I am grateful for catching up with a work friend over teams, the fact it is a bit cooler today and come cute videos of LO from nursery

I have just splatted a frog 🐸 that has been annoying me for a couple of weeks, I have set up internet banking with my new passkey thing. One account left to go.Loving it being a bit cooler. Making headway with kids doing homework (did refuse to feed one lunch until he had sent an email - he sent the email in 2 minutes flat). Watching the rain🌧️, drinking tea, reading a book, I am booked for a lemon drizzle masterclass later this afternoon. So I am going to give the living room a jolly good clean, as I have just chosen it as my 'room of the day'. 🗑️ 🧹🧹4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!
