I am not giving up my 2020 holidays just yet.....

I had an email from BA this morning saying that our return flight (22/10), had been changed by one day, no change to our outbound flight though. I asumed they were merging 2 flights and I was ok with losing 1 day. I've then gone on to Manage My Booking and it says both flights are cancelled. I 've finally managed to get through on the phone to be told that our holiday has been cancelled. I'm absolutely gutted0

Fingers crossed for you! I know it's a bit "first world problems" but it is such a pain not knowing how this is all going to progress and never being sure of your plans. We all definitely need a break!
My flight has already been changed - flying from Heathrow instead of Gatwick now - which is a bonus for me!1 -
I’m off. Found what I think is a good deal with TUI and have booked to go to Turkey. Five more sleeps before we go....3

I am still wavering!
I have taken early retirement, so we can now both self isolate (as DH is wfh) on return from anywhere which currently requires it, or which may be put on the list. I am not sure what is holding me back, it just seems quite.....' naughty' somehow. I am actually amazed that I am feeling that way too. We have gone from 4/5 holidays a year to zero this year.
I need an intervention!1 -
There are some cracking last minute deals at the moment on the TUI website. In the current situation there's no way I'm going to commit to paying a large amount up front, but around £150-200 per person to Corfu, Kos or Rhodes next week - it would be rude not to!Just need to decide which... did consider Turkey but they've got OTT face mask rules, you have to wear them in outdoor public places including beaches by the looks of it! The Greek rules are more sensible, similar to here.1

We made it to Rhodes, arrived yesterday for 9 nights. Glorious weather, so far impressed with what we’ve seen. If the FCO see fit to remove Rhodes from the exemption list, so be it 😀4

I'm surprised nobody never mentioned Gibraltar . Beaches on the east side of the rock . All the bars and restaurants open , cheap easyJet flights.
Never been on England's no fly list (although did pop up on Wales)Ex forum ambassador

I've finally abandoned all travel plans for 2020 (and probably Q2/21 too). I was due to have 2 weeks in Tenerife in October but I have cancelled the flight though I'm still having a battle with the hotel booking and may have to go through my insurance. I was thinking about doing a last minute booking (maybe Turkey) as a replacement but it's just going to be too much risk and hassle. Even booking something in the UK doesn't look worth it. I'm just going to settle for a few days out1

After today's announcements I think we'll probably see a lot more cancelled holidays in the next few months
It is what it is though, we need to nip this second wave in the bud and if that means I can't get away for a few more months so be it. Still annoying though. Stupid pandemic...
