I am not giving up my 2020 holidays just yet.....

7 weeks till I'm due to go on holiday to Amsterdam for 3 nights. As it stands it's still going ahead. If the UK peaks Netherlands may close its borders to us or ask UK people to quarantine. I have some hope, the UK are taking some precautions in trying to prevent more cases, however Netherlands cases are increasing slightly. There's still a chance, but my hotel is cancellable until the day of arrival. My flight has already been rearranged as my return was originally cancelled - which I expected as they don't need 10 flights a day from London atm! There's some hope at least and there are still things to when I'm there.1

The Netherlands didn't ever close their borders with us, even in the height of the pandemic, it's highly unlikely they would now. Even when they did have quarantine it was advisory and only for air passengers. I went over several times for work and due to go back again at the end of the month, it's all been very Dutch and laid back there.Sharon87 said:7 weeks till I'm due to go on holiday to Amsterdam for 3 nights. If you do go it'll be a rare opportunity to explore Amsterdam when it's not full of other tourists! As mentioned above - The Netherlands have been very relaxed about the virus so far - it's unlikely they're going to close their borders now, so I'd say it's a matter of whether you personally feel safe.Sharon87 said:7 weeks till I'm due to go on holiday to Amsterdam for 3 nights. And they've done a study in to masks and say they don't make a difference, so no mask wearing except on public transport, enjoy face freedom!!Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

Yeah it's a good opportunity to go to the usual tourist filled places to see what it's like when it's not filled with tourists. I'm not going for the party scene so less of a crowd is perfect!ginger_chocolate said:

I think Netherlands had a period of time where UK tourists had to quarantine for a time - I did a bit of research, but they don't now at least.0 -
Oh I've been quite enjoying wearing a mask - means I don't have to think about putting any make up on!peachyprice said:And they've done a study in to masks and say they don't make a difference, so no mask wearing except on public transport, enjoy face freedom!!

I need to make a decision soon but I'm on the verge of giving up on 2020 holidays. I have refundable bookings for Tenerife in a few weeks but what with cases on the rise there, the local authorities increasing restrictions and the chances of travel disruption, I think it would be easier to cancel and save for an epic holiday next year.1

Still waiting on our refund from Qantas & have done a chargeback on our Virgin Australia tickets as they will only provide a credit, interestingly to be used by the end of September 2020, laughable as the flights we’re booked on are on 2/10 & 5/10 😂.
I booked a hol in The DR, then cancelled the next day and we are now due to spend 9 nights in Rhodes leaving in 3 weeks time. If Greece is removed from the exemption list, we’re going anyway.
PS: have some posts been removed as I’m sure I posted about booking the DR on here earlier in the month 😳2 -
So my Amsterdam trip has been cancelled. Even if the FCO do let us go BA have cancelled most flights and they tried to book me onto really rubbish flight options. So me and my friend didn't accept the changes and got a refund instead - which literally took 1 day to reach my credit card account! Well done BA! I had to wait 6 weeks for Easyjet!
So instead in October we are heading to the Cotswolds for a couple of nights to a really nice spa hotel - which has all of its facilities we want open. So we'll be in the middle of the countryside around barely any people - except people at the hotel.
Next trip abroad planned - Morocco February 2021 - only flights booked so far... let's see whether that one happens!1 -

Fingers crossed for you! I know it's a bit "first world problems" but it is such a pain not knowing how this is all going to progress and never being sure of your plans. We all definitely need a break!
