I had an assignment at a drinking establishment yesterday for RE. I found a hair in my food  I had to put that in the report, obviously - hope they don't contest it because its a bad review!!

The other assignment I had for saturday didn't go to plan as the place I went to wasn't serving any food at all. Hope they both work out now! :o

I had an order docket in my pizza recently, I sent it to TNS along with the receipt!

What is the point of supposedly not naming the clients when people give obvious clues?

Either name them or stick to the confidentiality clause & keep schtum!

The whole guessing game is totally pointless, even if it does gain you a few thanks! :D

Pointless? I think not. I know for a fact that Tractorgirl shopped a cup of coffee this morning on the strength of my 'quite hard' clue. Plus, nobody actually thanked me. No, no, really. It's fine really. All go 'free' shopping at the Residence of The Scottish One From Dad's Army thanks to me... :A

Note: Let the record show that auntypog was referring to button click thanks only, as opposed to manually typed thanks. (Which she did get). End of Note.

Is that really how you spell schtum? Fascinating...

Assuming it's the biggest supermarket chain, then yes, you can buy what you want. The thing I always find confusing with the TNS questionnaire for this one is that on screen it tells you which section to visit, but seems to list all the sections in the print out. Consequently I always end up asking in every dept when I prob only need to do a few.

So, I'd mark on from the screen which areas you particularly need to visit.

Totally agree with you, Josie. In fact, I found the printout questionnaire so perplexing I contacted area manager for clarification who told me that I was taking it too seriously and that it would be more obvious when I went to fill it in. I wasn't too impressed, what's taking it seriously when you just want to know what to do to make sure you do it completely?

Mind you, she was right, the inputting was much easier than I was expecting

  • Hi there guys....

Just signed up to do a bit of MSing with a few companies and have got my first assignment sorted out for next week. Looking forward to it! :T

Just trying to get my head around the tax side of things, I've read so much on these forums it's just a case of clearing up a few things to make sure i understand it all! :) ....I think I understand most things, but I was wondering if anyone could help clarify a couple of things for me?

    1) I only plan on doing assignments within the boundaries of my existing travel pass which I use to get to and from work every day (i don't have a car). With this in mind, I assume I won't be claiming any travel expenses etc?
    2) Have I understood the main calculation that I'll need to keep records of are: Income minus expenses = Proft or loss (and this is the figure that the IR will be interested in?).
    3) I am doing this in addition to my current full time job, I earn approx £20k in my existing job. Will I need to pay any further NI with this MSing? If not, do I need to get an exemption certificate?

Sorry I'm sure all these questions have been asked a zillion times, but I felt totally overwhelmed last night after scouring this forum for a while! Any help/advice is appreciated, as I'm really enthusiastic for this but dont wanna mess up the tax or upset the Inland rev! :-)
