You don't actually need that certifcation at all, leave that bit out
  • Hi,
Well my lunch yesterday went okay, as long as I haven't stuffed it up with the bill by ordering Mum's with mine... Also noticed with this particular company they really don't want comments to explain the situation do they!
    Anyway, moving onto another query...
I have just had an email from Bare telling me the assignment I applied for has been assigned to me - but I didn't apply for one... Is this something Bare do to generate excitement or should I contact them and tell them something's up? (It doesn't show anything on my shop log.)

So did I - I emailed back saying that I hadn't - and it expired date-wise yesterday anyway - just another little quirk to see if we are paying attention no doubt!!!

I got the email too but it's a glitch. It happened before. There's nothing in my shop log so I don't even bother to reply to their email.

The job is through TNS and its a pub that also serves food. Going for a lunchtime visit. Ooh there go the nerves again! x

If you only work for TNS they should send you a form to fill out. They sort out the tax side of it for you and the NI side I think that you don't have to pay it. I am sure that someone with more Tax and NI knowledge will come along and correct me if I am wrong. As TNS employe you. They work on PAYE system.

If you work for S/E companies as well then you need to inform the Tax man.

  • Yes, TNS sort out your tax (though you might have to top it up if, like me, you are a higher rate taxpayer on your 'main' job :o). You probably won't have to pay NI as the wonderful Timne has explained that your NI-free earnings are per employer, and are about £60-odd a week. :D Edit: The NI bit assumes you HAVE a main job, and you WILL have to fill out a little form for the taxman at some point saying that you expect your earnings from MS to be less than £4000 pa.

On another subject entirely - has anyone else noticed that from Sat the Gap coffees are far more tasty (and even more fattening!) than usual? :D:D:D

Thanks to everyone for their replies to my queries, its much appreciated!

I have bitten the bullet and decided to go for some self-employed MSing companies aswell as TNS. I spoke to the HMRC NI helpline today and they confirmed that in my situation - I have a full time job - as long as my self-employed earnings do not exceed the small earnings exemption limit then no additional NI should have to be paid. Since I am yet to actually earn any self-employed money they said to wait to register as self-employed until I have my first self-employed job booked - I have registered today with BARE, Grassroots, Retail Eyes and just waiting to hear back from Amber Arch. I am becoming a bit obsessive about checking the sites for available jobs and seem to find myself on their sites every 5 minutes - though I'm sure the novelty will wear off!

I have to say that I wouldn't have been brave enough to actually go for this without having read this forum so I wanted to say a big thanks to everyone who has posted (and I think I have pretty much read all the messages!).

So now all I have to do is make it through my first assignment on Saturday  and then I will be well away!!! :j

  • Turned down,blown out,given the cold shoulder.
Yes you have guessed i had an "unsuccessful application" with tns and here i was thinking i would be accepted.
Has anyone else that was "unsuccessful"ever bothered to find out why?
Not so much annoyed as curious,i seem to be good enough for the others like gap etc.
Ah well fortunately at the moment i have plenty to keep me busy.:j
