Yay! I've just been accepted for grassroots - how long is it usually before assignments are given? what sort of outlets do they send you to?

Have given up with retaileyes for the time being.

Also, do you have to register as self employed even if you haven't done a MS yet?

    Thanks for any help!

The irritating thing is they know absolutely, to the last thing, what to do - even to the point of bringing out balloons. If they suss who you are then they can do nothing else but pass....

....unless it's me - on my last one of these visits I put a massive paragraph in about how the management were clearly talking about me and made me feel harrassed when I was trying to eat my food and they kept interrupting :D

Another issue is that GAP don't care how farcical the shops are, just as long as they're done!

PMSL, yes, they did bring out balloons as well!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I've bought stationery - envelopes, mailing sacks (for eBay items ;) ), writing paper, etc - and sometimes the brief says you dont HAVE to purchase anything, just post a letter and get a proof of postage - so I send an empty envelope to myself!!

Also - you're not meant to name any places on here that you shop at so can you change the name of the PC shop in your post. Thanks.

For the computer stores I usually buy something like a folder, post it notes etc etc, quite a few things under the limit that you can buy. Of course if you want to spend more than the given amount you can but the additional cost will not be refunded.

Last time I did one of these I topped up my mobile phone with £10 - something I would have done anyway.

Does anyone know when and how BARE pay?
  • you can choose paypal or bacs afaik

I checked with my bank and if I get paid via BACS they charge £6 per transaction, so Paypal works out better.

You have to give them your bank details, complete with IBAN/SWIFT number, and the money mysteriously appears in your account (with VERY little indication where it has come from! :p)

It takes a good few weeks, but it does get there eventually! (Edit: and I am certainly NOT charged £6 per transaction - what a nightmare! I will have to keep an eye on this!)

Thanks, have entered my bank details in now. What's this £6 charge you mention?
