Hi all,
Just wanted to let you all know that the list of mystery shopping companies shows Amber Arch as PAYE or self-employed. I applied to them recently and got accepted but they told me that they no longer offer PAYE only self-employed. Also you can apply by their website www . amberarch . com - go into the contact us section and it shows a link to their application form and where to send it to. It looks like all receipts etc have to be posted to them special delivery aswell so that may prove to be a pain. THey did advise that they reimburse special deivery costs though. I have declined to join for the time being as have joined TNS and have 2 assignments in the next fortnight - my brain won't be able to take the strain of remembering all the points I have to mark on and sorting out self-employed tax!
Anyway hope this helps!

Well, I've just done my first greasy burger assignment for over 6 months. They phoned me last night pleading me to do it, and as it's very local and I managed to negotiate a nice premium payment
I decided to do it.
And I've never experienced one before, but they put on the best floor show for me!!! As soon as I asked for a receipt everyone behind the counter perked up, I had my tray carried to a table, 2 girls appeared with mop & buckets and cleaned the floor near where I was sitting, I was asked if everything was OK, and a woman rushed into the ladies while I was eating with the cleaning trolley!!!!! And I actually quite enjoyed their chicken burger!!
That's it though, no more assignments for them for at least 6 months!!! :rotfl:We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Ha! Just hearing about those godforsaken jobs makes me shudder.
Such an absolute farce....0 -
No it's natural - within a matter of weeks you'll be a compulsive liar and you won't be able to go to a shop without being able to describe every member of staff you saw, fully, by the time you leave.
This couldn't be any more true. I've done MS for a good couple of years and even being out of it, you still do this.0 -

I agree. A farce. They should allow us to pay with plastic, then we'd get the receipt without being so blatantly obvious. I might as well have been sitting there wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with "I'm a Mystery Shopper".We’ve had to remove your signature. The irritating thing is they know absolutely, to the last thing, what to do - even to the point of bringing out balloons. If they suss who you are then they can do nothing else but pass....
....unless it's me - on my last one of these visits I put a massive paragraph in about how the management were clearly talking about me and made me feel harrassed when I was trying to eat my food and they kept interrupting
Another issue is that GAP don't care how farcical the shops are, just as long as they're done!0 -

Lucky you! Last time I did something like that there was a drunk man demanding free food or else in a very busy shop. I did not stay around as it was getting quite nasty :eek:Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 102

Now there is an idea, I get some t-shirts printed up :rotfl:
I have never done one of these assigments even though they have been very local-would have to be a really good fee. I am tempted just to go there and ask for a receipt just to get this whole show !0
