Afternoon all
just had my lunch break, popped out and ran my errands so I finally have hay fever meds! Also did some admin and cleaned the kitchen again after DH had done his lunch.. grrr
Im back in my sauna/office now, no more meetings so I might try for a slightly early finish.
Definitely read a book afternoon round, treat yourself x
Take care all xx9 -
Round, I did the same and booked the afternoon off, with visions of flying. I have s&sd the bathrooms but I'm now sitting in the garden until it's time to pick the dogs up.Spend less now, work less later.9

Drum roll please...……..the greenhouse building has been started! DH's face is a picture of glee (NOT!!) I wish he was more into building stuff, but he has other qualities instead
We have put together the front, but then stopped for our barbecue tea. Hopefully work will resume tomorrow, and I hope it is all finished by next week. The greenhouse was a Christmas present from my Mum, much to DH's disgust
After tea I popped to the allotment to water the new plantings and pick 4 strawberries. I am now on my laptop and need to do some paperwork preparation for starting back to work, ie risk assessments, policies, etc. It is a bit of a frog if I'm honest, and it needs eating!
Round I hope you had a relaxing and enjoyable afternoon off

Evening all,
You’ve all been very busy today. I have been in to the paid stuff all day (doors all firmly propped open, inside and out. Apart from the ladies’ loo door!), but then I work in a building in the middle of a field). In no particular order, I have: run the wm, done HHI, emptied dw, rescued DD from life threatening spiders in her bedroom, told DD to take her glasses off so that she can’t see said spiders in future, watered plants, did the greenhouse shuffle and finished off a click and collect order that I have for Friday evening. An unwelcome ant decided to chew my arm yesterday at the allotment, so I now have a golf ball size reaction going on. It also told its friends to go for my leg so that is going to be the same shortly. My usual cream and tablet combo will hopefully see them all off eventually. Good luck with the celery, Valli - my growing efforts lsat year resulted in just one pan of soup (tasty, but a lot of effort). But i’m giving it a go again this year along with celeriac which is supposed to be easier. So Carol tells me.
I have a cuppa and a rather tasty oaty chocolate chip combo that I made. I think that new recipe is a keeper.8 -
Jazee - I must be honest - I had no visions of flying - I could hear my book calling even as I drove home.
Thank you all xx I've had a lovely relaxing cool afternoon at home reading my book with a brief interlude to replenish Dad with reading material. He's working his way along my bookshelves during lockdown.
I have put out today's recycling - in case the bin men come before I'm out in the morning. Bye bye cans
Sweet dreams

Hi all
Up early, exercise class done, paid stuff, two loads of washing, shepherds pie made, dog walked. I also got a bit of time to just sit in the sun, feel a bit calmer today.
Well done on the wallpaper Pigpen did you somehow manage to get that one you really liked?
DS has got really badly sunburnt. He says he used factor 30 sun cream but I am skeptical, I think he put the cream on when he started to burn. He is very vulnerable to sunburn because of the chemo and it is now very sore. Any tips?9 -

Sun burn we just use loads of moisturising cream.. E45 or anything unperfumed.. as soo as it starts feeling tight slap some more on and paracetamol which seems to take some heat out of it. Get him factor 50 and make him put it on first thing in a morning and reapply hourly.. and the waterproof one.. I use the Nivea childrens one because I burn horrifically .. I cant even hang out washing uncovered.. I'm a proper flower!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)7 -
A mixed day. Started off ok, went with Mr N to get motorbike MOT done. Large gouges found in both tyres, presumably from a pothole, so that proved expensive and took longer than expected. Sitting in semi-shade having not taken sunglasses as visor has one built- in , in full bike gear was not pleasant.
Got home and rushed to hose down poor greenhouse plants.
Spent time faffing on computer to prepare it for Mr N's "old biker gits" weekly Zoom. Altered time of another I'd booked, having had it pointed out that Mon is bank holiday. That makes a difference?
Much worried by phone call from my mum, she did online pilates as usual and had severe vertigo. She's had it before, so rang GP and confirmed her previous tablets, some of which she has left, were good to take. Doctor unhappy about her being alone in the house in case she fell. After a discussion with my brother, we agreed he would go to stay with her as he only lives 1 1/2 hrs away compared with my 3hrs, plus his wife isn't vulnerable. If she isn't safe enough by Friday I'll go down. Fortunately none of the 3 family bubbles have been in contact with many people for weeks. I made mum ring her neighbour to put a glass of water within reach, bless her she watered the garden too. DB rang me after he arrived, very efficient he'd taken her temp and pulse, sure I wouldn't have thought of that.
Had planned to go for a cycle but feeling shaken and waiting for DB to ring so I did a lot of potting up, seed sowing, weeding and watering instead.
Hope tonight is cooler than last night, hay fever was terrible.
ASB are you ok?
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.7 -
Morning xx
I seem to have lost the ability to thank people on the thread - I do hope it's a temporary glitch.
Have a good day. Take care.
