Morning everyone.
Welcome Jill [waves]
Glad to see you surfacing, asb. Well done to your kids for being stars.
Coping vibes to Natty and GWS wishes to your DH and MiL.
(((Hugs))) to Narc0.
Thinking of you today, Fayolle - hope all goes well for your DD.
Pigpen, no you're not the only one having trouble finding the right underwear!
I had a very productive day yesterday. It started with a text from DS1 saying "I'm taking our dog up the big hill at 8.15 - any good?" so I quickly iced his half-birthday cake (46-and-a-half birthday, not half a cake!), grabbed Rosie, jumped in car and had a lovely walk in glorious sunshine with DS1 and two young ladies - how they've grown!!! Social distancing was maintained at all times (much as I would have loved to have hugged them all) except by the dogs, who were meeting for the first time and got on very well together. Rosie was tired out by all the running!
DH and I had a late breakfast, and I did odd jobs (including WMx3) and mowed the lawn before coffee at 11, then I decided to enjoy the sunshine with another cup of coffee and a chapter of my War-and-Peace-proportioned but very interesting book about the area of the East End of London where my gt-gt-gt-grandfather lived. The sun was too hot for gardening anyway! But once the sun moved round and here was enough shade on the back border, I tackled the dead forget-me-nots and the weeds and the ivy, and have made a great difference. I was hoping for rain overnight to soak the ground under the tree, but no such luck, so I will have to soak plants before putting them in and then water them well. Our sandy soil is bone dry and very dusty.
And yes, Rosie was up for another walk at 6.00!
Today I need to
- hoover round
- do more gardening: it's not so hot today, but very windy (I might need a hard hat)
- update my MrS order for tomorrow
- meet another friend in the park at 4.00 for socially distanced tea and scones, which I shall take with me
- take Rosie for her walk separately: the park is surrounded by main roads and I don't want her running off and getting disorientated
- start some knitting: I've found a pattern for a 7-inch knitted doll which will be a nice present for my littlest goddaughter and will help use up my stash of oddments
Hope everyone has a good day xx8 -
Morning all
I have been the recipient of Flylady kindness - many thanks! Ironically the item I am going to be working on won't be able to be used until we are virus-free. All non-wipeables are to be removed.
Lovely text from my colleague, with photos, thanking me for the baby cardigan. So, for a guess, the birthday card will arrive on time as I posted at the same time.
Last night I had to unpick about 6 rows of knitting as an odd stitch/hole had appeared. Done carefully - found unknitting purl rows VERY easy. I'm about at the 'shape armhole bit' - Im really pleased, love the wool (it's cotton) and it has knitted quite quickly - all the years of baby cardi knitting have paid off...I have got neater and quicker!
All house vacuumed through apart from stairs which I will do today as it's cooler. Also need to get laundry liquid as I ran out. When I'm feeling I can brave the wind I will peg out the washing - there's a sheet to peg out so I'll 'prep' it indoors, first. I notice the weather forecast changed overnight.
And the bathroom needs cleaning.

Good morning!
I had a terrible night's sleep! It was so warm, and no air. I also had a headache and the dog was heavy breathing/panting all night! I got up and moved to the sofa at 3.15am. It was noticeably cooler downstairs and I slept until just gone 7am.
No rain here, but it is windy. DH & DS are in the garden putting up the greenhouse - totally unprompted!! 😁 I am keeping out of the way! 😂
I have done the friday money juggle, put on the DW, FUPA some laundry and spoken to my mum. I am going to finish washing up the pots and wipe down the kitchen next.
Have a good day everyone!8 -
Morning,
Another few days have passed in a blur, I have mainly been resting up after my spectacular fall on Tuesday as I have been in quite a bit of pain and feeling sorry for myself. Also felt sick last night but that could have been the Baileys ha!
Going to try and get some of this week's list ticked off today including bathrooms....I really don't like doing the bathrooms!
Haven't manage to keep up with the thread this week sorry! positive vibes to all10 -
Narco how is your mum? XNatty I'm sorry to hear your news, sending you strength x
YL how is DS sunburn?Piggers - I would be raging too.
i have enough energy to fly! Kids are shredding paper to go in the compost heap (bank statements from 2012 anyone), washing is on the line & the house is presentable. I may have a nap. Hope to be back to normal sparkly self soon xx10 -
Weekend woot woot
Pip started to make a funny noise on the way home - not so woot woot.It sounds like something is dragging / catching on the passenger side but there's nothing to see. I'm wondering if a rear shocker has given up the ghost. Not sure what shifts my brother is on this weekend but I'll ask him to check it out if he has the time. I really need car dealers to open - I'll have a scout round the 'net and see if any are already open for business. Thinking aloud here - sorry.
Get well soon to all the poorlies. Mega - hugs to all

I HAVE A HALLWAY....
I filled a binbag of rubbish, a drawer with hats and gloves, a bag with shoes and wellies, a washing machine with smelly things and sent a pile of stuff to the shed.. including the new front door which has been in my hallway for 2 FREAKING YEARS... waiting to be fitted.. I lost my cool and demanded it was removed right now.. not later or tomorrow or when he gets himself a roundtuit.. I wouldn't wish him on anyone the way he is behaving at the moment!! .. I vacuumed it and wiped the paintwork and the walls and we are now attempting to decide on a paint colour.. if he doesn't stop being thick I won't even care about his opinion and paint it bright pink like I want to! ... 'what pictures' he says in a gormless voice... if I answer it will NOT be polite!!
I've decided the currently dark brown woodwork is going to be a mid grey .. I have some of that! and the top I have a pale sage green, a couple of greys and a lightish blue to choose between... I think he will like the green.. I hate green.. I want it pink!
Ooohh... brb I need to grab a thing for Twinkle...

right.. girls away.. weirdly.. he likes the very pale grey.. I honestly thought he would like the green.. I'm going to find a very classy pink and throw that out there ... like that 'post comment' button pink lol...
Dot and Pixie both just said the house is getting tidier!! Does that mean I am winning??? I am needing to vacuum the stairs tomorrow and sort 3 binbags of clothes .. might do those tonight actually.. then tomorrow we can drop the clothes at their new house, stuff at DD1's and take a swift run around B&M and B&Q.. I want some paint and a scraper for the paint I need to burn off.
Tonight I am sorting clothes and filling the car boot.. and finalising a tesco order .. and having a shower before bed.. and I want to fit in some knitting!

Clothes sorted.. OH hanging out wet stuff.. it's only the pramcovers and towels so it doesn't matter a great deal if it gets rained on.
Tesco order to deal with.. challenge is to keep it under £100.. 80 items.. shouldn't be too hard we don't need much aside from frozen stuff and tins and squash and cheese and ham and ... yeah, half the shop!! lol
I am quite pleased with todays progress.. I can actually see a difference.
Paint.. we decided on Johnstones moonlit sky.. very light grey.. going for a darker/charcoal gloss.. you know when I have done thins I will be eyeing up carpet I am NOT going to buy.. my front room carpet has holes in it I veyr much need to replace that first.. I am watching for a very good sale offer..
I may go for a shower now, I feel filthy after dealing with that hallway.. I've got a few hours left for order editting
