  • Oh, I have explained and explained. I think he's realised now how intent I am at getting this sorted, same as I was with the bank charges claim. He's started making noises about claiming through work as he's started suffering hearing loss, so if this can be proved then he will be able to pay his own flipping credit cards off!

I'm itching to get started on the CCs as I have now got my household spending under some sort of control but I know I have to wait a few weeks until I have the spare cash to do it. I really need to see those balances come down and feel smug beyond belief when I get to call up and say "I'd like to close my account, please"

I'm feeling a real sense of purpose about all this.:T

well done on sticking to your guns on the issue of the loan. I'm sure you'll managed to win your agreement. Good luck with your chat at the agency.
  • Thanks, you are all so lovely. Dont have any money for petrol to go and "have a chat" at the other place yet, so that will have to wait until my day off next week. Got a run of at least 6 days at work now, maybe more but I've mixed my shifts into mornings and afternoons so I feel like I'm getting some sort of break.

Tried my luck with the free tenner on Closer Bingo last night. Useless. Not a penny won. I think I'm going to have to pay it off the old fashioned way. Hard work and frugality.

There's an indoor car boot sale just down the road in a couple of weeks and I have a pile of old toys and clothes to get rid of, think I will book myself a table, get the kids involved and pay them for their time so they can start an ice-cream fund for our holiday. Hopefully that will give me a little extra boost towards paying off five in four months.

    Hi MM,

You're doing soooooo well. I'm sure that with that level of determination you'll have the debts gone in no time.:A

Hope you'll be headhunted for that dream job (superbly paid of course), when you see the other agency. Also good luck on the boot sale. If they sell at your rate the kids will be having ice-cream every five mins on holiday! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

  • I do have one small confession, the 90 pounds hasn't lasted. I'm down to my last pound and need petrol so Ive had to borrow a fiver out of the youngest one's moneybox (my kids have more spare cash than me!) until Friday, but that will come off next week's budget. To be fair, I didnt expect in a million years that it would last but it has put a new perspective on things. I thought I needed 150 per week to live on (inc giving hubby 40), when I actually only really need (if I'm careful) about 110. That's an extra 40 a week I could save. Haha, I think maybe I'm starting to take this a little to far!

  • :T Have made a happy miscalculation! I dont have to transfer over 140 when I get paid to take up the shortfall in the bills account, it's only 80! Which means I actually have a surplus in the bills account of around 100 per month if I play it right. This means I dont have to take the holiday deposit out of my weekly budget, plus I can get store card number 1 (House of Fraser) cleared and closed this month!

That's cheered me up no end.

    Have a great day everyone!

  • Hi MM, Have been reading through your thread and admire the way you are trying to deal with your situation. I have the same type of situation only i am the husband trying to deal with the debt. I have started going without and struggle telling the wife she cant have things and then have to deal with the strops. It really is the spoilt kid syndrome! As for the pocket money thing i'd love 60 quid a week, i'd travel everywhere to see the footy!!. i did worry when you said you used to be scared of him. I know its difficult but i would be mortified if i found out anyone was scared of me. Keep going with what you are doing. Depressed Husband.
