I got one response after 30 mins. The operative took a further 30 mins to check details. I confirmed that I wanted a refund. CS  then posted a long answer highlighting the positives of a voucher. When I confirmed I wanted a refund i was cut off. No explanation. I tried again and gave up after 90 mins wait. I'm convinced i have been recorded as wanting a refund so was ignored deliberately. They are offering refunds - at some unspecified date- but the making it impossible to get them. Any ideas how we pursue this?
Yes. Apply to have Ryanair declared insolvent through the Irish courts as it cannot meet its debts as they fall due. This will be my next step if a refund is not forthcoming within the next week. Looking at the process, it can be completed online.

There is no unspecified date about the matter, it will be within the next 7 days as provided under EC261/2004 (the date of which passed more than a month ago) or further action will be taken to secure my position as a creditor of Ryanair. The matter in addition will be brought up through my Credit Card provider, however I'm not willing to wait the 60 days that they would like.

Ryanair's insolvency is not my problem.

If they don't want to keep to the legislation that they signed up to as an EU air carrier, they should not be in business and I will do everything I can in the interests of consumers to ensure this is the case.

They offered a cash refund, they haven't honoured this. They shouldn't offer things they can't stick to.

I'm not willing to allow this to continue,
Good luck with that winding up order!  Let us know how it goes.

I will do. I'm not willing to be pushed around by insolvent companies attempting to justify their actions in keeping cash.

  • Not sure if anyone is experiencing the same issue but Ryan Air keep on emailing to try and get us to accept vouchers for travel at a later date despite us already having requested a refund.
The refund requested was made weeks ago and the money still hasn't been returned. We are really relying on receiving this money.
Thanks in advance if anyone can help?

Is anyone else in the queue online for a CS rep, I just wondered if anyone has been connected yet this evening?

If you're in the position to do so, the best thing anyone can do right now is wait.  Everyone is trying to get in touch with travel companies at the moment - hence the crazy waiting times.

April 2019 Ryanair carried 13.5 million passengers.  Let's say they had the same amount of passengers booked this April, and they've cancelled the whole months flying - that's a hell of a lot of people trying to get in touch!  Even if just 1% feel the need to be waiting to speak with them, it's 135,000.

There is a contact form here if anyone wants to ry and register their rejection of the voucher.
    https://contactform.ryanair.com/index.php
On facebook people are being asked for the following info, so it might be worth including this in the message:
“Booking Reference” and include 6 digit reference code - Full name of the passengers - Route, date and time - The email entered in the booking - last 4 digits of the credit card which was used to pay for the booking

  • I don't have a problem with waiting. However the email gives you a link to request a refund. When you get there the only "button" you have is to use the voucher. There is no button to be put in the queue for the refund so you have to go to Customer Support and wait hours not to be dealt with. Why not just put a button on the site for a refund most people would then be happy to wait in line for the cash.

Then why are they unwilling to refund in accordance with EU legislation and continue to stall?

Please stop defending illegal behaviour and please enlighten us, what connection do you have to Ryanair?
