Lovely update, big overpayments and general card payments due Monday so counted them in too. Aim is £833 a month so should be £2500 by the end of March, so...
£201.33 to be on track. There's £85 due out for definite so need £116.33. Totally do-able :D

  • Hi everyone, I have posted this on another post, but wanted to update here too.
I went to see a IFA Thursday & being a bit dumb when it comes to mortgages & that area, didn't realise I had some money in an ISA, that was £12,180 on the last statement in October, that I could cash in & that will roughly cover my debt that is left!!
I went to see her as my low int mortgage is coming to an end in September & wanted to know what I could do, in plenty of time.
I don't want to count my chickens too early, they wouldn't give me the figure over the phone as for some reason they are only in my Husbands name, he can't ring as at sea, so they are sending the figures, I hope I get them tomorrow!!
As long as nothing terrible's happened to the ISA I will be debt free, besides mortgage.
The £7,000 I have paid off has been so very hard, this almost seems too easy, & I feel a bit of a fraud, but as she says, you may have built up debt, but you were saving at the same time, you just didn't realise it!
I can't wait to hopefully clear this all off, update my sig & add my name to DFW roll of honour. I was being optimistic thinking I'd clear it by Xmas, so this is a big shock & I feel like the hugest weight has been lifted from my shoulders. I will NEVER be in debt again!!
I will update this thread when I know exactly how much the ISA is & when I've definately cleared things. Good things like this just don't happen to me, & I'm scared a mistake has been made, I'm sure it hasn't, but until I get the letter, I just can't believe my luck.
Well done to all the other challengers on here, especially those in for the longhaul, I don't know how you do it, it's been a year for me & I think I've aged 10!! I won't be cracking open the champers just yet, it won't make me a millionaire, but perhaps will make life a little easier.

Kizzy, really hope this works out for you and you get your money, wont say too much as i don't want to jinx it for you!

Well, have an update of £75. Not sure if i did it or my bank just set it up, either way i had enough money in, but for some reason a direct debit has been set up to one of my savings accounts, so £75 has gone in there, which when the 0% deal runs out, will be thrown at the debt.

Am busy filling in surveys as i feel i'm falling a little behind and every little helps.

Hi everyone..nothing to update except having my back door fitted on thursday(not part of the challenge unfortunately)..
Well done Kizzy thats great news!!!
Pollydaydream...you asked how I do it....I don't know really except that I have my 3 loans each month and pay what I can off CC but at the moment I'm paying for windows and doors...if I hadn't been doing this then I would definitely hit my £20k target...but I won't hit it as I'm also paying for my holiday of £3k ....if I inlcuded the totals for my double glazing and holiday I'd be well away..ahh well

Thanks, Polly! I'm trying to overpay my Northern Rock loan, but its not going so well, the branch seem reluctant to accept it. I do now have the sort code and account details to send it via internet banking, but when it came to do it, I couldn't - I want to see those details in writing from them, rather than just hearing them down a fuzzy phone line, I can't just send off £1,000 into the ether. So I've asked them to contact me, and thats what I'll tell them.

Hi all, and fab news Kizzy - really hope you get that and become the first to achieve the challenge!

We paid our solicitors today for all the deposits etc for the house move - slightly less than we'd thought, so we've still got about £500 in savings (which was £2k, and came entirely from free money from £10 a day challenges!). Still going to have a £2k estate agents bill to pay which will have to partly go on a card, but we knew all this, and are happy that we're not going to have to increase debt by as much as predicted. So nothing to report paid off, but I'm happy enough with where we are anyway!
