How did you guys get a Scottish Power account? I've given them my info and received my final bill (I'm in credit), and just waiting for a SP account before I can begin to compare tariffs and move away if needed.
It happens automatically, first step is you giving them your readings and bank details (sounds like you've done this), those readings will then be used to generate a final bill from tonik. Check you account at the tonik website. Once you have a final bill it takes ~10 days to transfer.

To those switching before they have gone live with SP, SP aren't lying when they say doing this may and probably will delay the switch away from them. Even if you tell your new supplier who you are with they will still look up your details in the national database and base the switch of that. If your supply is still registered with tonik but marked as in the process of switching to SP it will throw the process out of sync if it receives a new switch. You'll then be waiting for your new potential supplier to pick this up contact to you to resolve it and then re-submit the switch again.

You'll have to let me know how you get on with PFP - that's the cheapest tariff closest to the Tonik energy for me too but the customer service comments put me off! Shell Energy was next..... all more expensive than the Tonik tariff I was on!
Bad CS doesn't bother me, complaining's dead easy. I take photos of my meter around the switch date so I have proof of what my reads were at the start of my contract and that's pretty much all I need to argue my case.

You may not be able to cashback from the smaller suppliers, but the ombudsman payments can make up for that. This SLOR issue is the only issue I've ever had that will leave me out of pocket (just talking about the 25% increase * 2 months), I'm not worried about getting my credit back, but will ask for a good will payment to cover some of the 25% * 2 months issue.

Ok after twittering with SP I've been advised  as long as you receive your welcome pack (which are in the process of being sent out) - you should be able to switch provider - this is in relation to can we switch any earlier than industry standard.  Can't get a date out of them for this, asked CEO this question earlier - so will share any further update - unless we all get a comms from SP as have not heard anything direct from them now since 30 Oct......  ooh I do miss Tonik.... :'(
  • Yeah looks like you and me are in the same boat @Annieddiva - waiting on welcome pack.
Given @Bark01 advice - I think I'll sit pretty until that comes.

I just used the search that someone has posted there and it says my Gas supply is with Scottish Power though now.
  • Chris4 - I just went online at Scottish Power and registered for an account.

Yeah I have an account already setup, nothing in it yet though. I was a previous customer about 5 years ago though.
  • Yep - @funkyfin2000 - will wait it out now, as Outfox the market is now showing as being cheapest for my area - so here's to more competitive rates becoming available!!
I think Ofgem should have a charter set up for customers of bust providers with a timetable for forced replacement providers - as I've never known such a shambles before....it doesn't seem right that we end up being excluded from all their requirements....
  • Haven't received welcome pack yet but both gas and elec databases show SP as provider. Also my SP acct says they are sorry that I am moving elec away. So all looks good to go for 26 Nov
  • Haven't rec'd welcome pack yet but both gas and elec databases showing SP as energy providers. My account says they are sorry to see I am moving elec elsewhere!!!!
  • @Malchester - I think you've struck it lucky!! Good for you!! :)
