How are we all doing? I’ve been flat out buying all sorts of things for the house. Need to reign it in now coz I’m getting close to the wire and will be leaving myself with nothing until September at the rate I’m going

Good morning laddies, I hope you all managed to cope with the extreme heat wave? Past two days I just tried to be as slow as the tortoise in all my tasks at home. It has been so hot I wondered whether it was time to consider installing air conditioning? If these heatwaves continue as expected I am not sure how I can cope when I reach menopause? I might be passing out at that point!
For now I had to run around and get some extra fans! Initially went to Argos and they were sold out!
Have a nice day all 🌺

Hello everyone. Hope you are all fine and pressing on with DIY since we have the long days. Just a financial update. Mortgage went out on the 14th of July.
    New balance

Only managing OP of £100, hopefully I will be able to increase it soon but looking like not going to happen soon.

I had the asbestos results back and they were positive but I'm suspicious of the bloke who came out so I've ordered a back up kit from Amazon and going to test the same area and I actually got a multi sample kit so I'm going to test everywhere for piece of mind.

Which kit did you use can you remember the website?

Hello all, I have been absent from the forum but just spent some time catching up on this lovely and lively  thread!
Great to see some new house buyers (I am still saving my deposit and watching interest rates go up) However my rent is very reasonable which helps a lot.

Loving seeing the welding tools @Sistergold and well done on sub 400k. Looks like I will be having to take a £380- 400k mortgage on myself so great to see how much you have brought yours down. I also like idea of max length and OPs to keep the payment down, being single and self employed!

I will be doing many diy courses after hearing about everyones experiences
    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Nice to see you back @LadyWithAPlan! With low rent there is really no hurry to buy I guess! You are so lucky, I was not so lucky and thank goodness I quickly went ahead as rentals seem to be difficult to get and getting more expensive by the month! Congratulations on making so much savings on the £100k goal! You are almost there! Interests rates have been  going up so rapidly and I am already on over 2%! Hate to think what I would have been paying with all this rate increases if it wasn’t for OPs. Will need to remortgage in 2023 and I suspect we might be at peak interest at that point but will see. X
