Well done Sistergold, your an inspiration! I’m saving money tomorrow by having huffed and puffed moving and dismantling all my furniture myself Down the stairs of my flat ready to move into my parents garage tomorrow. Removal man charges £50 per hour and does a half hr fee. My parents live five minutes away so I’ll have it all ready outside for when he comes at 10.30. I’ll give him a nice tip and then he ll be booked in for the move to my house when it’s ready. Dead chuffed with myself today : )

Dismantling furniture yourself before the removal man is a sure way to cut down on their time and save you some money! It’s a good workout too! Good luck for the moving day!Initial mortgage bal £487.5k, current £258k, target £243,750(halfway!)

Thanks everyone for your warm welcome!
I've had a bit of a rocky start. I am moving from my first property to a bigger property and unfortunately the seller pulled out literally at exchange. So I was back to looking again for another property, I've now found one and waiting on a new mortgage offer to come through. Fingers crossed. Unfortunately I couldn't use the mortgage on my original property on this one, so I am now facing a higher interest rate as well as my increased mortgage.
Really hoping this new house works out, all the searches go ok, the sellers and my buyer hang in there, and I can be in as soon as possible, and enjoy some more space!
How is the new build purchase going Merlin's Beard and Lantanna?
Hope everyone else is doing well1 -
Oh @Blinky2010 fingers crossed this purchase will complete.Initial mortgage bal £487.5k, current £258k, target £243,750(halfway!)

Blinky I’m signing my contract on Friday, my completion date has been put back until the 7th of September. I’m happy enough wit( that as it gives me another wage to save. Hopefully this works out for you and I bet when you get it you ll prefer it to the original house.I’m just trying to live as frugally as possible now to save as much as I can for the move. Negotiated a few days to wfh to try and reduce the ever increasing petrol costs.0

I've exchanged on mine now (a paperwork drama with the solicitor of course!) and I'm now at the point where I should be getting tradesmen in to measure up for floors in the next week. So I'll have a proper quote soon instead of just an estimate off the plan. Estimate was about £2k more than I was expecting, but I got several and they were all in the same ballpark so it is what it is. Starting to feel like it's actually happening now! Completion still set for July.
Definitely with lantanna on living frugally, so much to pay for!Start mortgage date: August 2022; Start mortgage amount: £240,999; Original mortgage free date: August 2056

The going is really getting tough.Interest rates continue to go up so interest rate has moved from 1.49% to 1.99%.Monthly payment has moved from £1942 to £2016. Probably need to review my finances and see if I can go back to paying a higher OP so as to mitigate future rate increases?Old rateNew rate and oh interest for the month has also been added but mortgage still below the dreaded £400k! Yey!Keeping my mortgage payment under £2k is beginning to feel like chasing your own tail. Interest for the month being £673Initial mortgage bal £487.5k, current £258k, target £243,750(halfway!)
