I agree with that, I expected to write off a premier inn stay, wouldn't have bothered to chase it, so was surprised when they e-mailed me a saying I could have a refund.
It's a pity when a company that you been happy with  shoots itself in the foot like HE has done for me, I will pay more not to use them.

I've cancelled my parking and lounge this morning. No mention at all of vouchers - didn't even know they were doing that. Then had my confirmation and yep, vouchers. Can they do that without advising you before you cancel?

When was it booked for,   was it a cancellable rate?

Hi - it was booked for 16th June. I had a cancellation waiver fee included so believe that means I could cancel it if necessary. However, I booked and paid for it last October so can't remember specifics. I'm fairly certain I would have booked a rate which allowed me to cancel as I was meant to be travelling with my 80 year old mum.

As you paid for the waver you should get a cash refund.
You have a few couple of options,   wait and chase up HE  in the hope you get your cash
Get your card company to refund you (free),  or take court action (£25 which you get back if you win)

Thanks for the advise :) I had an email from them this afternoon which included a link to a section on their website which gave further info on cancellations etc and it said in there that people who had paid on a cancel able rate had been emailing in and getting refunds. I replied to them and told them that i was travelling with my nearly 81 year old mum who had paid for half the booking. Obviously at her age, we don't know if she'll be fit enough to travel next year. I said that I would like to pay back her half....I *may* have laid it on a bit thick.....😉😉

Had an email from Holiday Extras today regarding our (£201) parking/hotel booking:
We understand that you would prefer cash over a voucher and as a gesture of goodwill we will be providing the option to take a cash refund. [...] When we get to your request, we will send you an email with a choice to keep the voucher for 100% of the booking value, or convert it to a cash refund (less £10 administration charge)
While I'm obviously happy at the thought of getting most of our money back (though I'll wait until it's actually in my bank account before celebrating), do they have any grounds for charging a £10 "admin charge"?

Did you have something like this on the bottom of your e-mail when booking?

No, nothing like that (it was a non-cancellable booking), but as they were the ones who cancelled the booking (and not me) it does seems a bit unreasonable for them to charge me an administration charge for doing so!
I'm not that worried about £10 in the global scheme of things, but the principal of Holiday Extras charging an administration fee for a booking which they cancelled feels unreasonable.

With the new info you provided,  as it was hotel & parking there shouldn't be any fee charged.
