    Love Holidays are an online supplier and not classed as a travel agent.

    As an online Travel Agent, all our flight plus hotel holiday bookings are financially protected by an Air Travel Organisers Licence (ATOL) scheme

    My flight to Spain on June 6th has been cancelled by Jet2. I booked flight and accommodation through Loveholidays which according to theirs and ABTA's terms is classed as a package. Under the terms of a package, if a part of this is cancelled I should be allowed to obtain a refund or credit note. Obviously I don't need the accommodation if I don't have a flight, aswell as the fact the people I was joining on holiday were on packages with Jet2 so have had their full holiday cancelled. Can anybody please clarify this to put my mind at ease. Loveholidays are not saying much as they're only doing anything for travel upto 30th April. Thanks
    The term "package holiday " depends on whether Love Holidays actually booked flights, hotel and transfers altogether with Jet 2 Holidays and you just had one reference number for it. It sounds to me that Love Holidays have booked Jet2 flights and then the hotel with a different supplier. Then they use their ATOL certificate to keep it altogether as a package, but it is not the same as everything being with one supplier (IE JET2 holidays) You will get a refund credit note for your cancelled Jet2 flight or you can ask them to request a refund if thats what you want, however Love Holidays need to get the hotel cancelled for you and obtain a refund from the hoteliers. Hope that makes sense. Good Luck

    thanks for clarifying above, same boat here, booked via LH but it looks as though I going to need to chase flight refund myself from Ryan Air and the hotel cash refund from LH. Here was me thinking booking with operator would make it easier

    Did you make one payment to LH or was it broken down and a payment to Ryanair?

    Hi Darrenjo,

    The way it seems to have worked so far for me is;

    1) I eventually had a notification from Ryanair that the flight was cancelled, and options with them to rebook or refund. It seems to me that this came through bang on a fortnight before the outbound flight date.
    2) Going on the LH web page their FAQs ask you to inform them if you are notified directly (as the traveller) of a flight change/cancellation.
    3) When I went to "Manage my booking" on LH to notify them it asked if I have confirmed a refund is requested with the flight operator. This is a tick box that is compulsory before you can click the submit button. Effectively, it forces you to request the refund.
    4) Going back to the Ryanair page, I clicked the relevant buttons and asked for a refund for all travellers/flights. Their confirmation page says that the payment will be refunded directly back to the original payment method within 20 days. As I paid LH for everything, I assume this will go back to them (if it happens).
    5) I went back to LH, clicked through again and checked the box that I have requested a refund from Ryanair.
    6) I now patiently await notification from LH. Now that they have been informed (by me) that the flight is cancelled, they should in theory also arrange a refund of the accommodation (which is also shut for the whole summer, but that's another story) as the other part of my package holiday.
    7) I'm trying to get a customer service chat session with LH but nothing is happening.

    I think I'm doing it by the book, but we'll see. It seems confusing because you book the whole package with LH but Ryanair contact the traveller directly, and not the booker/payer. What's more, the within 20 days bit would seem to make it very hard for LH to refund people within the regulated 14 days without stumping up their own money. Maybe this is behind the whole RCN thing, otherwise the cashflow would bankrupt them in no time. To be fair, if I could actually reach a human being I would agree to an extended and reasonable amount of time to process the refund.

    See how it goes.

    Rich.
