  • I called BA on 22nd April. I was quickly answered and told I would get a full refund. Within about 48hrs a credit appeared on my credit card account (on line) for £104. The tickets were £1500+. I scoured the paperwork and found a reference to the sum of £104 'seat selection ... included in the total'. I have tried everything I can think of to try to understand what is going on. Mistake or is rest to follow? I cannot now get though to BA. Has anyone heard of a similar case I am concerned to know should I just wait or should I be hitting the phone every day. Thank you from a first time poster.

Did you pay for the tickets with your credit card also?

  • I rang BA the day before I had been due to fly to the USA on the 19th March, only days after Trump had stopped flights . I finally got through on the phone and was only offered a voucher, even though I told them I was going to visit family members at university who would be home so would not be planning to go again. I was told they were not offering refunds and to take the voucher and if it changed later I could get a refund. I had to accept as I was scared I would lose everything if I didn’t get it sorted before the flight was due to go! I'd seen that other people have been getting refunds and contacted BA on Twitter and was told in no uncertain terms that once you have a voucher there is no refund. I tried to explain that I was told on the phone that he had made a note that I wanted a refund but the answer was still the same! I still have annual travel insurances but have been using this to try to get a refund on internal USA flights which is also proving very tricky!

Yes, paid as one sum. There were a number of itemised amounts listed, this 104 was not one of those but it was in some notes as included in the total. To clarify, I made one single payment to BA which appears on my card statement as such.
    Thank you

It could be a mistake and missed the rest.
I have been reading on here BA have issued full refunds back to the card after only a few days.

Don't ask me why, but BA refund the seat selection payment separately. When I rang up for a refund, I was given the two amounts that would be refunded to my card, seats and flights. That was four weeks ago and nothing, starting to lose patience with them now.

Do you know if your flight took off?
The complication is that the flight was a 2 stop - from Manchester to Heathrow and Heathrow to San Francisco - The USA portion was cancelled but the Manchester to Heathrow went ahead as I understand.

You were clearly misled into taking a voucher being told you could get a refund later and a voucher was the only option.
This would certainly be grounds for a complaint,  and to get a refund you were told you could have.
The fact one leg didn't take off works in your favour.

Did you pay via credit card?
