Reverse Meal Planning
Comments

We had a grocery delivery yesterday so our last four meals have been forward planned rather than reverse planned!
Dinner last night was box fish, home fries & broc - breakfast hummus & pita bread - lunch today was pasties - dinner chicken burgers on brioche. Forward planning is pretty hum drum...
We did however use up some more lettuce, a tomato & a shallot from the stores to fancy up the burgers!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Ooh canneloni - I love that idea. I have previously made "cannelloni" with homemade pancakes - they bake really well instead of the ready-made pasta tubes. I am guessing flour tortilla, tacos or wraps might be an option (not that I have any of these) so I think it will be homemade pancakes with a fridge/freezer filling and philly garlic and herb cheese (I might have a tub of mascarpone in the freezer so will have a rummage). What a great idea! A tomorrow night thing I think. I have a girls night in catch up at 8pm so might be garden salad tonight.
Last night was delicious premium pork sausages from our lovely butcher, with jacket potatoes, carrots and peas. So simple, so nice.
edit - ooh, hummus for breakfast. How mediterranean of you!Save £12k in 2024 - #2 target is £5000 £5809.67 so far, just over 116%

I find cannelloni tubes fiddly and time consuming to fill. Alternatives I use are buckwheat pancakes or lasagne sheets softened in boiling water and then cooled in cold water and drained, you need to ensure the pasta sheets don't touch as it can be a nightmare to separate them, I only put a couple of sheets in the pan at a time.Fashion on a ration 2024 66/66 coupons remaining

I use a disposable piping bag to fill the pasta tubes! Need to make sure the spinach is finely chopped though! Mine wasn't fine enough and I ended up having to cut a bigger hole to make sure it could go through it, LOL!
I usually use ricotta rather than mascarpone it's just that neither Lidl nor Morries had any and wasn't going to try Asda as there were long queues to get in, as usual. Asda and Mr Ts are definitely the worst for queues!
Using some fish from the freezer and a packet mix of sauce to make a fish pie for dinner tonight. Will chuck some small frozen prawns in just before it goes in the oven so they don't get tough. Will serve with some frozen peas and green beans.

No meal for us last night - I did each of us each a plate of little meze dishes of snacks - olives, cheese, nuts, salty things - to have on my virtual night out with my girlfriends. Somehow I also consumed nearly a whole bottle of prosecco, a large gin and tonic with elderflower cordial and we were on a 40 minute limited call for over 2 hours! Mmmm - SL - your Friday night Meze sounds brilliant! I may pinch that idea for a BDay Skype party next month!
We had a fakeaway pizza dinner last night - store bought Margarita base topped with assorted store cupboard & freezer bits - a side or ranch salad on the side with a small glass of red for the OH. Dare I say it was even nicer than the 'real' thing and was minimal effort4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Last night I had my last glass of Prosecco, maybe for ever.
In a couple of days I have to start a new medication for an additional health problem I have developed, and alcohol is totally contra-indicated.
😥😥😥😥
While I have given it up for weeks and even for months in the past, and never have it when I’m out, it’s knowing that I just can’t any more that is making me very sad.
Especially while being in isolation.
And especially as it wasn’t very long ago that I found this really nice Prosecco as well, and was getting some delivered with my veg box every week.
Although I found a good alcohol substitute a while back in the form of a sparkling kefir water, ironically my most favourite one, grapefruit, is also on the banned list, as grapefruit is also contraindicated.
Someone, somewhere has got it in for me!

Sounds fun SL and exactly what’s needed!
rtandon all this talk of pizza makes me want one. Haven’t had for ages. Still have last few bits from freezer to eat though before the big and much needed defrost. Will make two pots of soup today, sweet potato and leek (padded out with loads of carrots) and minestrone which will use up more carrots and cabbage too. There is half a red pepper which I had forgotten about so it’s good to use it. We haven’t had a veg box as still using some up from last week and I topped up some other veg from Sains.5 -
I'm sorry to hear that @Pyxis my OH is the same he is unable to have alcohol nor grapefruit due to his medication, which he has been on 10+ years and will continue taking for the rest of his life.
He finds it difficult sometimes when we are out for a meal as he also avoids sweeteners, so often the only drinks available are orange juice, water, milk, hot chocolate, tea or coffee.
The range and quality of none alcoholic beer have greatly increased in the last couple of years which has helped him a lot. When ordering we always check as some places aren't very good at seeing the difference between low and no alcohol.
A drink we all enjoy is elderflower cordial and sparkling water, or lemongrass and ginger cordial with sparkling water.
I hope you find drinks to enjoy and celebrate with.Fashion on a ration 2024 66/66 coupons remaining
