HiI never knew cats could get tonsillitis either.Well done losers and sts. Bluedoggy, commiserations on the gain, I'm always ravenous when I have a cold I always think my body must need the extra calories to help fight the germs.Yesterday I had raspberries with the choc chia pudding as I realised I'd not had any fruit. Almond milk in my cup of tea wasn't particularly nice but helped with not wanting to dunk biccies. I need to experiment as I like a cup of tea in the afternoon.Today's menuBreakfast: Greek yoghurt, raspberries and strawberries. Coffee with cream x 2.Lunch: rotisserie chicken slices with spinach and mushrooms in a creamy sauce. Choc chia pudding.Dinner: prawn cocktail with a side of avocado and chili squid.Evening snack: milk chocolateTake care all.Old Style Weight Loss Challenge 2025

Our vet said 3 months before they have to start the jabs anew Brambling. Last year the portable pest had an abscess in her anal gland. The vet said she was only the second cat he'd ever seen with that in his whole career.
Food today
B : couscous with a handful of blueberries and some skyr yogurt
L : half an avocado on two slices of small wholemeal breadChicken with slad
Snack : I chopped up a carrot into a small plastic tub then filled the tub with water so the carrot doesn't dry up.

Hello x
Yes I reached target thanks to the support of you lovely bunch of people. My weight loss has decreased so will set a lower target next time!
I had a nibble day yesterday and today Im spending the day in my PJs as i have to do a fluid in and out chart related to my endocrine diagnosis. I don't half drink a lot and pee loads - I have a cheap jug and a funnel - TMI?
Anyway couldn't be faffed with dealing with clothes today so PJs it is.
Hope you have a good day lots of love xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.8 -
Thanks Cranky I've just checked his card and he was due the 7th May so I'll not worry just yet, they were only doing emergency appointments with the animal handed over in the car park, I'm not sure if they have returned to normal service (well as normal as we can be!) I would hate to think we can fight to get in to Primark but not get our animals their annual jabs
Aren't you lucky to have such a special cat

Afternoon All,
Why do weekends go so much faster than week days?
ditty Well done on the loss and being so close to your target.
Gingerlily Well done on the loss. I hope you've recovered from your 'everything go wrong' day
TTB Well done on the loss. Your food always sounds really healthy and not very much so I definitely think that losing slowly is preferable to cutting down any more
Black Saturn Housework definitely counts as exercise. I deep cleaned the bathroom and toilets last weekend and my thighs didn't stop aching until about Wednesday!!
Brambling I hope watering the plants wasn't too annoying a job and that you enjoyed the catch up with your sister, even if she did end up pinching stuffMolly Well done on the loss and reaching target again. I hope the botox works and you enjoy being headache free for a while
Blue Doggy Commiserations on the gain, especially if you consider 60g of ice cream to be an elegant sufficiency - I can eat that much trying to decide if it's softened up enough to serve!! I hope the farm shop stuff was as good as it looked.
Honey Well done on the loss and I hope you're enjoying the new laptop
Monnagran Sorry that the biscuits got their revenge, I'm sure they were delicious though
roundtuit Congratulations on your STS, especially with how stressful the work situation sounds at the moment and worrying about your dad. I'm hoping that we can carry on working from home for as long as possible too. I miss the social aspect of being in the office but I didn't enjoy the commute at the best of times and it's saving me a fortune in train fares
General Grant You're managing to stick under your calorie limit each day so, even if it doesn't shift as quickly as you'd like, you're doing really well
Sirens Sorry things are getting you down at the moment and I know that it doesn't always feel like it but a STS is definitely better than a gain. I'm not surprised that the thought of everyone being back at work is stressing you out and please don't apologise if you need a rant, it's what we're here for
Cranky I'm another one who's had cats for forever and didn't know that they had tonsils!! Well done on the STS and good luck with giving up sugar. Although I reckon I could give up sweet sugary food I don't think I'd fare quite so well with carbs
Zippy Well done on your loss
I'm happy and amazed that I've managed another STS this week. Food's been a bit hit and miss but I've been a lot better at only eating when I'm actually hungry and have managed more veg this week as well, I also managed a completely alcohol-free weekend. I worked Saturday morning, spent a few hours lazing in the garden and then had to do some food shopping as we had my parents round yesterday for socially-distanced afternoon tea in the garden. A couple of mates popped round at different times as well for a quick natter in the garden. It was really lovely to see people as I'm generally quite sociable and not seeing people face-to-face has probably been the hardest thing for me during lockdown. It's made me incredibly grateful that we've got a garden though as at least I can see a few people now.
I'd like to say that I'll get my act together and try really hard to manage to break even for this challenge but as it's my birthday on Wednesday and Father's Day on Sunday, both of which tend to involve cake, and we've got friends coming round Saturday night, which tends to involve booze and cake, it's not likely to happen. I'm trying to console myself with the fact that I'm still (very slightly) lighter than I was at the start of the year.
Best of luck and stay safe everyone xx10 -
Hi everyone. I am a long-standing lurker on the OS forum but have just discovered this thread.
Well, in July 2018 I was 11:13 at my nephew's wedding but by April I was up to 13:13, which is by far the heaviest I have ever been. Decided i must take proper action, as we have another family wedding in July 2021.
I have been counting and weighing everything that passes my lips and am currently 13:5. So far I have lost 1lb every week and I'm really excited about the thought of getting below 13 stone. My initial target is to get back to 11:13, so 20 lbs to go still. Then I shall aim for 10:00.
My greatest challenge here is my OH! He has absolutely NO idea about how diets and calories work and believes that quantity of food on plate= gain in weight. So he sees me with a plate full of salad, beetroot, tomato etc, sighs and says " no wonder you don't lose any weight". Or if I have lost 3lbs he will say " you might actually lose weight if you dieted properly instead of eating crisps and cake" ( this is when I follow WW and count points. I try in vain to explain how the Points system works and that you can have cake, chocolate etc AND LOSE WEIGHT as long as you stick to 22 points a day. He laughs and says " I don't think you've understood that properly. You cant eat chocolate and lose weight!" Also, he does not understand that 3-4 lbs a month is a fairly respectable rate of weight loss and if I ever mention I am dieting he then expects me to lose 2 stone in a fortnight.
I decided i would just start counting calories and say nowt. So far, I have been successfully doing my secret diet, but it's not easy (though far less stressful than with him knowing). I weigh out cereal etc when he's not looking and keep a hidden notebook where I write down and tot up everything I eat. He's out all day mon-fri but evenings and weekends are a bit of a challenge. I have got through so far by careful meal-planning. Still, I shall try and plough on until he eventually notices I am shrinking!
I am aware I've made him sound like some sort of ogre above. He's really not, just doesn't understand diets!
Anyway, you all sound like such lovely people on here. If I'm not too late for the party I'd really like to join you all. Might just keep me sane.
OH is on 2 weeks leave from work soon, so I may have to confess. We'll see.
Either that, or my MIL will give the game away next week, as she hasn't seen me since mid April so she might notice.
Thanks for reading.Hope everyone has had a good start to their week.

@monnagran - I see your biscuit-gate and raise you flapjack-gate. Like you, I didn't eat them mindfully - the whole lot disappeared over 3 days where I ate nothing much else. And my tummy was very uncomfortable afterwards, feeling bloated and full. I was struggling with fatigue last week, which didn't help, as I didn't have the energy to plan proper meals - or even do all my yoga classes. However, things have improved over the weekend, so I've got a meal plan, and my classes are booked.
I weighed in this morning at 67kg which is the top of my 3kg range for fluctuation (having dropped 0.8kg of the 1.8kg that I mentioned before). So today is a fast day - 7am yoga followed by work, then 9am pilates, work, coffee with cream at midday, cold frittata (left over from yesterday, so 2 eggs plus onion, peppers, peas, ham and creme fraiche) and yogurt with turmeric, cinnamon and ginger for lunch and I've just had green soup with creme fraiche (I eat as early as possible when I have a late yoga class). 586kcals, 16g net carbs.
I have some mowing to do, and a bit of work, before my 8pm class. If I get hungry I'll clean my teeth!
Tomorrow the plan is for coffee with cream; orange soup with creme fraiche followed by yogurt; salmon with a pesto-like crust (basil, wild garlic, pine nuts, olive oil) and french beans. (9am pilates, 5.30pm yoga)
Wednesday will be coffee with milk; salad (including coleslaw - the cabbages need using!) with some brie; kefir & banana smoothie (9am pilates, 8pm yoga - so another fast day).
What happens after that will depend on the veg box delivery...10 -
Hello All
Well I'm feeling much more positive today, thank you for all your kind words.
Work today and the high street was heaving, you'd have thought they were giving away free stuff, the queue outside Prim@rk was crazy! Must have been awful for the poor staff.
Todays meals
B bran flakes, berries and yog
banana
L lo baked chicken and rice with veg, orange
D lo over cubed roasted potato, spinach and two hm scotch eggs.
will have a tiny piece of dds honey cake she made today, last week she attempted vegan honey (seemed to be syrup to me?) so today she made said honey into a cake, looks nice but I shall only have a taste.
Trying to be behaved this week but as Izadora, mentioned it is Father's Day on Sunday which will involve takeaway and some sort of pud, but it's one day, so I shall be fine. 😊
Welcome ouraggie, my dh doesn't really understand dieting really, I follow SW so just cook meals using that principle and he hasn't really noticed he's eating healthier. 😂'You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose' - Dr Suess

Good evening everyone
Congratulations All Losers 👏 and well done All STSers 👍
Welcome ouraggie if the diet you’re following suits you and you lose weight without feeling deprived, stick with it whatever Hubby says.(If it doesn’t, ditch it and find another, you have to enjoy it and be able to stay with it long-term.)
greenbee veg boxes are tricky, modern greengrocers don’t seem to have the skills of their fathers or grandfathers. My localest one only does family sized boxes heavy on the spuds and onions. I have to go to the nearest town for a better mix,
but he doesn’t prioritise local produce ... (ok, first world problems but that’s where I live ...)
Izadora it seems odd, but there are things I am inordinately sensitive to, and others I can gorge on with no problems. Sugars and sweet carbs make me crave more, addict-like, and they settle round my internal organs and hips quite shockingly.
Molly pjs are very practical garments, best wishes for your test results being what you need.
Gingerlily thanks.when I’m under the weather I let my body tell me what it needs, if it needs extra rations it’s my job to keep it supplied without sabotaging the long-term ends.
Brambling you keep us all in order and record all our pluses and minuses, as well as coping with the demands of your garden and your boss. You deserve not only💐💐🌹but also 🎖May your home-grown beans and other veg flourish!Apologies to People I’ve missedI spent a whole hour (at least!) on the phone this morning to the pet insurers to find out why the premium for Junior Doggy’s next year is well over £700, and Senior Doggy’s renewal didn’t arrive at all. 😳😯😲😕😡😱☹️😣😖 (enough with the emojis!).
This afternoon I managed to so some gardening (=hacking back jungle, Bigfoot is in there somewhere.
Eaten today
B : bacon and eggs (farm shop bacon Izadora, very good)
L : jacket potato with tomatoey lentils and hm coleslaw; satsuma
D : cauliflower bolognaise; yogurt with raspberries; apple; cheese (didn’t weigh it, but probably about 3 oz.) 3 glasses red wine.
S : none so farStay safe and well, everyone!“Tomorrow is another day for decluttering.”Decluttering 2023 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️

Welcome ouraggie always nice to see a new face
Did you want me to add anything to the chart for the last two weeks of this challenge or wait until the next one on the 1st July and just post as you want? Your choice
I think some people are stuck in the old fashion diet mode of only lettuce and no potatoes without realising that things have moved on since the 70s and the way we are now advised to lose weight
if he gets too annoying I'm sure you know how to handle him I would probably have thrown something at him and then ate a cream cake which probably explains why I live alone
Blue I hope you have gotten your pet insurance sorted. As a cat owner I have only self insured by ensuring I have enough in the kitty kitty to pay for vet bills although my last two drained it in their last few months, this one waited until I decided not to extend the free trail from cat protection to start limping and require an xraybut I know it's a lot different with a dogs especially with any legal issues as well
I'm not sure what food will be today other than it will feature salmon for dinner, just not sure with what although i have fennel and new potatoes in the fridge. Lunch is still undecided but may involve salad of some kind. Last night I spent a while trying to sort out the arid patch at the top of my front garden which is killing off everythingI got too hot and frustrated and ended up with pasta and wild garlic pesto as a late dinner as I couldn't be bother to cook probably, followed by brie and crackers before bed
Have any of you tried pesto made with carrot tops? I need to thin my carrots and was wondering if it is worth the other ingredients to try it?
