Afternoon All,
I hope those of you who aren't sun-worshippers are enjoying this cooler weather. I definitely prefer full on sunshine but I'll be grateful for what we've had while I wait for it to return.
Blue Doggy I'm not surprised you needed to nap after your very early canine alarm clock! Well done for getting your laundry out of the way.
roundtuit It's not silly at all, I hate working out new phones even when they're just a newer model of the one I was used to, and I think the "why didn't you ask" comment would've resulted in me doing a lot more damage than pizza and chips!! I'm glad things are a little less tightly pulled today.
dumpling My mother-in-law often comments that pizza's just cheese on toast but I like to convince myself that it's better for you because it's got vegetables in the sauceWell done on working out an iPhone, I end up nearly throwing it across the room every time my husband asks me to use his.
Brambling I hope you enjoyed the lack of furry alarm clock, ours isn't allowed in the bedroom so decided to cry so loudly outside the door that he woke us both up at a silly hour this morning. I hope you enjoy your accidental ice cream, I keep hearing the van chimes as well and it's making me really want one.
Gingerlily Keeping on plodding is a good plan and your fajitas with iceberg wraps sound interesting. I always have them in tortilla wraps but that's a great way to reduce the calories/carbs.
I'm now going to read back through everyone's menu plans as I'm completely stuck for ideas of what to eat today and have been too tempted to pick at things while I decide what proper food to eat.
Best of luck and stay safe everyone xx8 -
Just dropping in again to say how motivating you all are
I now have a 3kg limit (I work in kgs because I don't relate specific numbers to 'too heavy') within which I'm learning to maintain. A 'relaxed' couple of weeks (too hot, CBA to cook) resulted in a 1.8kg gain (still within my limits), so I took myself in hand once classes went back to normal on Monday - a couple of low calorie/very low carb days (salad, eggs, tofu, soup, yogurt) which were easy as I was so busy at work) and 0.8kg has gone. I'm learning that I can let my weight fluctuate (not so happy about the body fat numbers, but I blame that on no yoga last week!) and if it goes up, I know what I need to do to get it back under control. It's taking a bit of mental effort - and in some ways is probably harder to get my head round than the 'dieting' was.

I'm late to the party for this quarter (or ever, to be honest). Weight crept up about 9 lbs over weeks up to 22 May and I took myself in hand. I've lost just 2 lb, so at least another 7 to go (and a little more wouldn't go amiss). So I'm aiming for a couple of pounds a week to the end of the month. I'll take inspiration from this thread.

Hello x
Nice to see you back Dumpling x Huge hugs x
Im still plodding on Im still fainting despite the increase in steroids - I had better not put too much on when I WI in Friday x
Positivity to you all xxx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.9 -
Good evening everyone
Molly sorry to hear you’re still having fainting episodes - might the heat have contributed? Hope you’re soon ok again.
Hiya General Grant 👋
roundtuit, dumpling my smartphone is named “Alec” (‘nuff said!) and nearly became an expensive dog toy when I was trying to set it up. I managed to lose some bits, like the weather, in the process, and other bits stopped working for unknown reasons. Why there are no manuals these days ...
Cheese on toast à l’italienne seems a very reasonable response.so do chips ...
Brambling it’s in part your light touch on the reins that keeps this waggon the friendly place it is
Gingerlily thank you for your good wishes. Don’t let plateaus get you down: now you know roughly when to expect them, you can look out for them. I find it helpful to think of them as a “pause” while the body sorts itself out after a loss.
Izadora I hope you found your inspiration among our varied menus. The important thing is to eat mindfully and enjoy what you eat
greenbee well done on dropping that 0.8kg. You’re right, fluctuations are fine as long as the trend is what you want, after all our bodies aren’t machines. And now you know what affects you in what way you have a repair kit.
It has been raining here today, so no need to water the garden. This morning I found that something - probably with feathers - had been digging in the pots with my tomato plants in, uprooted one, disturbed others and chucked the compost about, so they had to be restored and moved to a safe place (garage) to recover in peace. I suspect it may be the same creature which uprooted and removed my lavender cutting. You can go off wildlife...
Today I ate
B : grapefruit, oatcakes with Marmite, mini chocolate bar
L : jacket potato with Skyr; scone and jam
AT : scone and jam
D : cheese omelette, peas, tenderstem broccoli, courgette; yogurt with 2 alpine strawberries“Tomorrow is another day for decluttering.”Decluttering 2023 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️

@BlueDoggy - no clotted cream with the scones? @monnagran will be disappointed!
You're right, it's good to know how to reset. It's also important to eat mindfully as @monnagran is discoveringI've enjoyed today's soup, salad and sliver of delicious blue cheese far more than I enjoyed the unplanned, rushed meals last week. And they're enough. I'd quite like the sun back though... I've got some lamb tagine defrosting for tomorrow, which I'll have with green beans, savoy cabbage sauted in butter, and a couple of jersey royals. No clue what I'll have for lunch - it feels like it might be soup-making weather again!

Welcome General_Grant 👋 do you want me to add you to the chart with a 7lb target?
Molly the steroids are a necessary evil, at least you're prepared for a steroid gain and anything else is a bonusdo as you're told and take it easy or we'll set Monna on you, that applies to you to Dumpling
Blue I have rain envy, it's threatened to all day but hasn't and my friends 2.5 miles across town have had it 🥺 I've half heartedly thrown a little bit on some of my veg plants and if it doesn't rain overnight that will be a chore before I start work in the morning
Roundtuit my sister always complains that my nephews do things for me when I ask but not for her, infact I don't always have to ask and they offer 😁 my reward for spoiling them when they were younger, or they know what's in my will 😁 is your son old enough to sit him down and explain how stress they things make you
well the icecream has yet to catch up so I'm reporting my first -2lb of this challenge 🍾 however after my morning weight in I've been a bit picky today, it will be stopped tomorrow
B - pineapple, melon and strawberries
L - sardines on toast followed by fruit jelly and ice cream
D - last of the fruit jelly and more ice creamI did have plans which I forgot to take out of the freezer than I had other plans and then I said oh sod it after a zoom call with friends I cba to cook
S - small bag of jelly beans, pack of crisp, fibre one brownie 🙄😬
I tried on a dress last night which hasn't fitted for a few years, I got it on which is the wonder of stretchy jersey rather than a super slim me but I wouldn't want to wear it as it shows every roll of fat 😬 definitely doesn't skim the curves the way it did 😐

I heard my name mentioned. Don't believe what these hooligans say General Grant, I'm a pussycat.
Molly, you are allowed to swear at the pills before you swallow them you know. Tell them that if they start making you put weight on, you have been known to bite. You have to put the frighteners on tablets you know, they have to learn what you won't tolerate.
I had a similar thing happen to my one rose in a pot, Blue. Compost and moss tossed all over the path that I'd just swept.
And greenbee is right, I'm terribly disappointed at the absence of clotted cream. I enjoy your cream teas vicariously.
So your phone is called Alex. That's nothing. I have a friend on another forum who has a dressing gown called Colin. Don't ask.
Roundtuit and dumpling, don't get me started on technology. I was fine with my old desktop and Windows7, I even mastered Publisher and used to produce a Church magazine every month. Since the advent of Windows 10 and a new laptop I am completely lost. When my children sigh at my ineptitude I am forced to remind them that I had to teach them to use a spoon.
I have rain envy too Brambling. Gangsta Granny next door is not speaking to me since I told her not to bother watering last night because the weatherman said we were going to have torrential storms. Liar. A dampness in the air this morning, just enough to lay the dust and about 5 spits of rain on the windows this afternoon.
There is no point in telling you what I have eaten today. I know salad was involved a some point, and a scoop of chocolate ice cream, but the rest is lost in dementia land. There was no scone with clotted cream and strawberry jam though. I do know that much.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Morning xx
I haven't known you for very long but I'm inclined to love you ladiesYou are all very nurturing
I feel I could blossom here in this safe little garden - but maybe not if Gangsta Granny comes round to beat up monna
Yesterday was a write-off. I don't know if it was fall out from the stress on Tuesday, or if I was actually ill. I struggle to recognise the difference. Whatever it was I was tired, tired, tired all day with a headache that was affecting the sight in my left eye. I fell asleep in the chair just after 7.30pm. That's when I start to think 'oh. Maybe I am ill and not just a wuss'. Bit late then if you ask me - I've spent all day beating myself up by then.
Anyway I'd factored the fish and chips tea in to my calorie count, but not the erm Kit Kat and packet of Jaffa cakes which followedI even tried asking myself 'which do you want more? To lose weight or chocolate?' Chocolate won. Thinking about it now - I'm soooo glad I fell asleep!!! That stopped me eating.
Blue_Doggy - I've ordered a book: Android Phones for Dummies. I totally think an instruction manual should be included - I looked for one but there was just the barest Basic leaflet which might as well have been written in Klingon for all the use it was. My phone has been named 'The Beast'. I've also ordered a cage cover to keep it safe.
Brambling - DS is 27 years old. He knows how stressed some things make me - but apparently I'm an enigma: the things that people think will send me over the top I handle, then the little thing that no-one has clocked on their radar causes a meltdown. I define it by saying: give me a mountain and I'll start climbing it; give me a molehill and I'll trip up. Every time. Splat! Hence I'm managing fine with all the lockdown restrictions, but when I can't work out how to put the Sim in my new phone = meltdown. DS went for a walk out of the way - it's the best thing to do until I find my 'rational' again.
monna - having said that the next time DS rolls his eyes at my IT ineptitude I will remind him about the spoon!!!
