Old Style Weight Loss 2020 - Part 2

Hi everyone
I had another rough night so I am just going to take it very easy today. I have managed a wash and change of pj's and I think that is my lot for today.
I have had shreddies and a couple of bits of toast for breakfast, Steve is cooking spag bol for dinner so lunch will be whatever salady bits are in the fridge. I have almost run out of quavers so snacking will be limited.
I already drink pints and pints of squash,(sugar free of course) so I am not worried about my water intake, my kidneys spend half their time bobbing around, and that's not including my cups of tea.
Hope you all have a wonderful day, take care xx

Thank you for your kind comments x
Im very unsettled and starving hungry the whole time my teeth have never been cleaner😫
Oh well I hope they won't be forever xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.10 -
Molly, poor you. It's one thing trying not to eat when you are just mouth and brain hungry, when you are actually ravenous it must be hell. I dont think you are going to be able to keepthis up without going insane. Im not even sure that you SHOULD be trying to keep it up. Have you mentioned to the doctors about trying to lose weight while taking medication that puts weight on? I'm just wondering if it is wise to try to make your body do one thing while your meds are trying to make it do the opposite. It seems to me that something has to give.
Don't take any notice of me, you could summarise my medical knowledge on a pinhead. I just want to give you a big hug.
Roundtuit, I think Shakespeare got it wrong. He SHOULD have wondered whether it were nobler to take arms against a sea of CHOCOLATE......... Anyway, Jaffa cakes are not the worst thing you could have eaten. Not sure about the whole packet though.
And there is no possibility of Gangsta Granny beating me up. I'm bigger than her and 10 years younger. Although I'm not sure that counts where she is concerned. Yesterday I saw a familiar baseball cap appear over the top of the fence that separates our gardens, followed by a gloved hand and finally a 90 year old face hoved into view. GG was prodding at a fence post that needs replacing. Her post but on my side. I'm expecting, at any moment, to see her marching across my lawn, 8ft stone post tucked under one arm and a pneumatic drill under the other.
I'm also considering buying "Windows 10 for Idiots," or similar. The only thing that stops me is that by the time I've mastered it they will be on to Windows11.
Foodwise, (after all that's what we are supposed to be talking about) Br was 1 weetabix with banana and raisins, run out of grapes. The rest of the day is shrouded in mystery.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Sorry to read you had a rough night Dumpling.Hi General Grant.Well done on the 2lb loss Brambling. That’s a fabulous way to look at it Blue-Doggy.I’m about to sound like a broken record. Stuck to plan yesterday with the addition of some milk chocolate in the evening.Today is / will be:
Breakfast: fried eggs, wafer thin ham, a little sharp cheddar and ketchup. Coffee with cream.
Lunch: Sweetheart cabbage, small portion chicken breast, pickled beetroot. Huge bowl of strawberries, blueberries with cream.Dinner: iceberg lettuce, spring onion, toms and tuna mayo. The last of the chocolate coconut ice-cream, well it turned out more like an ice lolly but I’m not complaining.Evening snack: piece of milk chocolate.Take care allOld Style Weight Loss Challenge 2025

Afternoon All,
greenbee Well done on finding a small floating limit that you're happy with. I can imagine that it's difficult to get your head round but it sounds a lot healthier than obsessing over every half kg
General Grant Welcome and best of luck
Molly Sorry things are so hard at the moment and I hope you feel better soon. As monnagran said, it might be a good idea to put weight loss on the back burner while you concentrate on getting well. There's only so much you can put yourself through in one go and you've done so well this year would you be able to give yourself a little leeway, knowing that you'll still be a lot lighter than you started?
Blue Doggy I love that your phone's called AlecI found lots of inspiration in all of your menus but was sadly lacking in ingredients for a lot of them so I hoicked a sausage casserole out of the freezer and had it with new potatoes and veg. When I've got a bit more time I'll put a proper menu and shopping list together.
Brambling Well done on the loss and getting into an old dress. It doesn't matter if it's stretchy and you wouldn't be happy to wear it at the moment, you got into it and it gives you a really good visual comparison for the next time you try it on.
monnagran A pussycat? Maybe puss-in-hobnailed-bootsI can't even begin to imagine what would lead to a dressing gown being called Colin and I love that you point out to your children that you had to teach them to use a spoon. Despite the fact that my brother (ridiculously clever and 2 years older than me) has taught me more than the majority of my teachers put together I still like to remind him every now and then that I taught him to tie his shoelaces
roundtuit Don't beat yourself up, we all have bad days (I think I may be abusing the privilege with how many I've had recently) and I hope you're feeling better today. I can relate to coping with mountains but being completely incapable when faced with a molehill, it'll be the oddest things that tip me over the edge.
dumpling Sorry you had a rough night and well done for getting washed and putting fresh PJs on, I know that there are times when that seems like an insurmountable effort.
I've got a mild case of the grumps because I should have been going on holiday today and I'm trying very hard not to take it out on the food cupboards. I know that, in the grand scheme of things, one missed holiday is really no issue at all but I'm still kind of sad that we're not going. Breakfast could probably have been a lot healthier than nutella on toast but I figured that was probably not quite as bad as having toast, still wanting something sweet and then raiding the biscuit tin. Seeing as I had it quite late, thanks endless meetings, I probably won't need lunch and I think we're having fajitas for dinner.
Best of luck and stay safe everyone xx11 -
Hello everyone,
I've just shared my lunch with the cat. I'm not sure if that's a slimming aid but it's my own fault for eating prawns.
roundtuit my day was like yours yesterday except I didn't have a headache. I just couldn't be bothered with messing around with food either. Consequently I had cheese on toast for lunch and a cheese sandwich for dinner. I also had two chocolate bars and 2 cans of cider. The scales show a 2lb gain this morning but it's not official weigh in day until tomorrow so I'm hoping it will be a smaller gain. My own fault for thinking it may be a loss this week.....I need to stay off the bread, it does me no good at all.
I'm still tired today but there will be no afternoon naps taken. I slept for an hour yesterday, went to bed still shattered and then couldn't sleep.
I'm sorry that you're having such a rough time dumpling. I hope you feel a bit better soon and I'm going to follow your example and drink more squash today instead of fizzy pop.
I have an iphone by the way. The HT showed me how to use my first one (I think he was about 8 at the time) and as I don't require it to do anything fancy I've just carried on. I'm still on iphone 6, some of the rest of the world are up to iphone 11 I believe!
Take care all of you9 -
Hope people are feeling better
Roundtuit could it have been a migraine if it was over one eye?
Cranky my current cat is the first one I've had who doesn't like human food, he's going to be a pain if I have to give him tablets. He has started to eat a tiny bit of chicken but he's not that bothered
Monna I use to have a neighbour who lived to 96 and drove until 95 (which was very frightening) at 90 she volunteered for a day centre to help cook for the old people rumour had it she was older than anyone she cooked forPersonally i think she lived so long as she was pickled during lent she would give up wine and drink whisky instead, at 88 she started to climb the large oak tree near our flats to try and get my cat down she was bare foot because 'my dear you can't climb trees in shoes' she was half cut...
I remind the young'ums that i changed their nappies
Well the rain was a disappointment last night not a enough to do any good so watering later, my lawn is being to look brown. I used my lunch break to ensure my garden waste bin was full, I'm paying for it's collection so it's going out full tomorrowThe corner of the garden I was tackling seem to be growing it's own defense system, brambles, holly, japonica plus something with half inch thorns it had been growing behind the compost bins. I think I may have surprised my neighbour with my language
, I didn't see him come out
B - banana
L - egg sandwich
D - pasta with a vegetable and tomato sauce
S - apple with peanut butter, walnutsLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin8 -
Brambling - you made me chuckle
Think Muttley - and that was me reading about your surprised neighbour! I didn't think about it being a migraine until my sight went blurry in my left eye. It's possible as the only trigger I have for migraine is lack of sleep and I've not slept well for weeks now. I must have reached the tipping point - today I have what I call a headache's shadow. No longer a headache, but that tender bruised feeling that lets you know you had a headache yesterday. Or is it only me that gets those?
B - porridge with bits in (bits being raisins, apple, and allegedly cranberry and raspberry - but I've yet to find the last two!)
L - cheese sandwich with salad cream instead of spread, hula hoops, Blue Riband Caramel
T - cauliflower cheese grills, swiss roll and custard
S - none
D - tea, Diet Coke - oh bother no water again, That won't help my head!

And I've been for a walk with DS.
Back on track - yayyy.

Good evening everyone
wow! Lots to catch up with!
Hugs to Molly, dumpling, roundtuit and anyone else who’s not feeling her best at present. Where’s the group-hug emoji when you need it?
roundtuit I hope your headache goes away soon and takes its shadow with it.You’re right about this garden being a safe space, we even have our own, aptly named, gardener to clear away the thorns and shock the neighbours (although maybe not Gangsta Granny) 😺😸😹🙀
Izadora, I’m sorry you’re missing your holiday, but on the other hand you get to sleep in your own bed and use your own bathroom. 😀 Even if you have to provide your own room service.
Brambling just take care and look out for triffids. 😸 Loving your story of the 90-year-old lady cooking for “old folk” and climbing trees barefoot!CRANKY I hope that extra weight will go soon.I put on a similar amount with my “birthday feasting”, hoping I can be disciplined enough to lose it by Sunday.
Gingerlily very well done for sticking to your planMonnagran, greenbee sorry to disappoint you, ladies, the clotted cream was a Special Birthday Treat, not due for repeat until next year or other special occasionIn terms of my diet, though, I think the carbs from the scones and the jam were worse. 😄
I seem to have been busy all day, but nothing much achieved. I’ve arranged for a box delivery of fruit veg and salad, the first one arrived today, and I’m pleased with it, although I may tweak it for next time. This afternoon I played online games with friends, which was fun and we each won a game.Cream-Tea-free Menu for today
B : porridge
L : cold sausages with salad (lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes); 2 flat peaches from today’s delivery
AT : 2 oatcakes with jam
D : grilled chicken leg, new potato from delivery, tenderstem broccoli, courgette; yogurt with raspberries

Exercise: 100% extra dog walks as they both wanted walkies this afternoon 🐕🦺🦮“Tomorrow is another day for decluttering.”Decluttering 2023 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️

@Blue_Doggy - I'm doing low-carb so clotted cream is a health food
And so are pork scratchings - high protein, low carb (also high fat which is OK and high calorie which is OK if, like today, I haven't eaten anything else calorific). I rarely meet my protein intake targets, but pork scratchings usually result in me achieving it.
Today I had:- coffee with cream
- coffee with milk
- green soup with cream; pork scratchings; dark chocolate; coffee with cream
- globe artichokes with garlic butter; stir fried pork escalopes with pak choi, carrot, cabbage, red pepper, ginger, chilli, turmeric, spices, sesame oil and coconut oil; elderflower cordial
As my veg box arrived today I've done a vague mealplan to cover until Monday. The weather isn't helping me want to eat salad...
