Old Style Weight Loss 2020 - Part 2

Morning All,
Wow, so many messages to catch up with. Sorry if I missed any
Black Saturn Hello and welcome. I struggle with portion sizes as well, not helped by having rather large dinner plates. I should probably get some new ones but, seeing as I insisted on having a matching set of 10 when we did Christmas for both families a couple of years ago, my husband would think I'd lost the plot if I bought any more.
Blue Doggy Sorry you gained this week. I hope the hands and hips are feeling a bit better now and best of luck for the sparkly new week
Brambling Shopping when hungry is always a killer. Well done on doing a freezer audit, mine's so out of date it's ridiculous. Bless your sister for not letting you drink alone, although you have now reminded me that I've got a bottle of grapefruit vodka hidden in a cupboard.
Cranky I'm another one who's always wanted to be able to wear pretty shoes but, having big fat clown feet, I have to make do with whatever I can squidge them into. I'm glad you enjoyed your Zoom get together and quiz, modern technology is definitely helping me hold things together at the moment.
ditty Sorry you gained this week and hopefully the routine of work will make things easier this week.
dumpling Wow, that's an amazing loss!! I hope the doggy's feeling better soon and that the munchies can be mostly contained to the fresh stuff.
jules Well done, that's a very impressive loss, especially when things are difficult.
MisterGazpacho Welcome and good luck with the foraging/growing. I'd love to grow my own veg/salad but am so not green fingered that I could even kill a cactus.
Molly I hope the men folk appreciated the baked goodies and, although it's not good that you felt queasy, I wish that small amount of chocolate had the same effect on me!!
monnagran Well done on the loss. I try to make it a rule never to look at calories after I've eaten something, once it's done I don't need to know just how bad it was
roundtuit Sorry for the gain but well done for getting on the scales when you really didn't want to. And well done for seeing healthy eating as a reward rather than a punishment.
Sirens I don't think best intentions are ever going to be a match for carrot cake cookies, they sound amazing
TTB Sorry for the STS, it's always difficult when someone else is in charge of the cooking. Best of luck with your new/old OMAD routine.
I was dreading getting on the scales this morning but somehow seem to have got away with a STS. I was planning on continuing spring cleaning the house over the weekend but then really couldn't be bothered so spent Saturday food shopping and then cooking (I did some meals for the freezer but accidentally seem to have made a tray of chocolate orange brownies as well...) and yesterday lazing in the sun with a book.
Best of luck and stay safe everyone xx9 -
Izadora I mostly wear trainers - they're very forgiving.
Meals today
Breakfast - porridge
Lunch - falafel and salad wrap (I chucked one of my frozen lettuce parcels in the pan while I was warming the falafels up. It worked fine. Warm lettuce may seem odd but when you add it to whatever you're making the wrap with it often ends up warm anyway. That's my logic
Dinner - Home made potato cakes with dry fried egg and baked beans.
I've been out for a walk and also done some gardening. This afternoons project is to sort out my wardrobes again (I have two, both single size). They are a mixture of things that fit and look ok, things that fit but look terrible and things that nearly fit. I'd like at least one of them to be just things that fit so I can wear anything out of it and know that I look ok. This could take a while....
Take care all of you and stay safe8 -
It's about 10 days since I weighed myself. Pleased to say 2lb loss. Slim daughter is now here helping, she can eat anything so I'm afraid I've not been keeping too close an eye on what I've been eating. I've now every intention to get back on track.
Breakfast 0
Lunch:- pizza with tom paste, tomato, prawns, goat cheese, all on a small mission wrap instead of a pizza base.
I love making flans but I use a small wrap as the base instead of pastry. I use a small metal dish and line it with the wrap and then add the filling - it works very well as an individual portion.8 -
Sorry I'm late, havent read back yet either... getting slack!
Today
3pm apple
6pm Roasted veg made into spicy sauce with tomatoes, fish, couscous. Stewed apples and custard.
Catch up tomorrow. 🌻A bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it
You're welcome we can spare it, yellow socks8 -
I've just looked back to see who has posted since I was here this morning and find that my post has disappeared. I know just what happened, I'm always doing it. Instead of clicking on 'post' I switch off.
I was so distraught that I needed a crumpet slathered in butter and toasted cheese to recover.
I feel much better now.
roundtuit, courage my pet. You will be fine. We won't let you be anything else. Promise.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Well done on your loss Zafiro 👏 and your STS Izadora can you buy one smaller plate just for you I worked with someone who had one size plate for her husband and one smaller for her 🙂
Roundtuit well done on getting on the scales that's the hardest part doneand you're still here and trying again which is the next hardest part 🙂 as it's been said before if this was easy we would all be a size 10
i hope the dog is feeling better Dumpling there's no good time for a pet to be ill but at the moment it's worst with the restrictions at vets
Well reaching for the chocolate at the back of the cupboard Ive just knocked a unopened jar of pickled onions out of the cupboard, kitchen now smells like a chippy and cat 🙀has been reassured with dreamies whilst I cleared up the vinegar and glass 🥺 I was once given a diet tip of eating a pickled onion or gherkin when I fancied chocolate as you couldn't eat chocolate after vinegar 🤔 I will say after washing the kitchen floor with vinegar you can eat chocolate, I'm sure I'll be finding glass for ages, just have to watch the little paws 🐾🐾
B - flapjack (thanks to my sister)
L - LO cauliflower and broccoli cheese
D - fruit
S grapes and chocolate mini eggsLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin8 -
Good evening everyone
Crumbs! What a lot’s been going on!monnagran ah! cheese therapy
zafiro congratulations on your loss 👏 I like your idea about using a wrap as a pastry base.
Cranky How did your wardrobe sort-out go? Did you find lots of fit + look-good clothes?
Izadora thank you, drier warmer weather is what’s needed 🌞. Well done on STS 👍 (and chocolate orange brownies).roundtuit commiserations on your gainDon’t beat yourself up, remember the thread motto is “be kind to yourself”. The friendliness of this thread makes it easier to be honest and write down even our mistakes, knowing we won’t be flamed, and we can learn from the mistakes what puts the weight on and what doesn’t (and how far we can push it!)
dumpling I hope your dog gets well soon, it’s such a worry when they are illWe have to find comfort in this weird time wherever we can, whether it’s cakes, brownies, cheesy crumpets or Hobbit-style multiple breakfasts
BramblingLunch in the garden sounds lovely. Best wishes for your veg growing, you had a lucky escape from “cat incident” 🙀. Also good escape from “R & G scones”. Bad luck about the pickled onions though, you deserved your chocolate reward. (Although it was chocolate that got you into that pickle...?)
I made a batch of spinach soup first thing this morning. While I was exercising with Junior Doggy this morning, the opticians rang to say I could collect my new glasses if I got there within their short opening time (just a couple of hours today, and then, who knows?) so I rushed there, and am now getting used to them slowly, at the moment everything looks very near and little. Then I took the car on for a short run to keep it in running order. And the rest of the day pretty much evaporated.
Food today:
B : bacon and eggs
L : spinach soup, oatcakes with Marmite, two small tangerines
D : ham and tongue salad (tomato, black olives, chicory, radishes); yogurt with raspberries.
S : none“Tomorrow is another day for decluttering.”Decluttering 2023 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️

Thank you all for your kind words
xx
Can I ask? Have you all suddenly started to eat cheese? Or am I being hypersensitive to the 'cheese' word as there is none in the house? I didn't notice any of you eating cheese before, and now you are nearly all at it
Do you want the good news first or the bad? Good news: I went for another walk yesterday. DS kindly walked round the country block with me before he went on his own longer walk. I love the open country but I'm nervous about meeting vicious dogs or vicious muggers. Let's face it I'm nervous about most things! Bad news? I ate a packet of biscuits again last night. I have a friend who picks up shopping at Mr T that I can't get at the village c00p - which is very good of her, but she insists on adding 'treats'. I was even questioning myself as I ate them, but it didn't stop me. Must. Try. Harder.
Have a good day everyone. Heigh ho, heigh ho for me,
Stay safe

roundtuit, for goodness sake don't start trying harder, that is going to make you put more pressure on yourself. Perhaps you might try a crazy method that sometimes works for me. I talk to my food. If faced with something, like the packet of biscuits, that I don't want to eat really but feel compelled to shove in my mouth, I might address it thus.. "Ah there you are biscuits, I wondered when you would show up. Yes I know you are desperate to get inside my mouth but honestly you are being very pushy and can never tell when you are really not wanted. Why can't you just stay in your cosy packet and let the rest of us get on with our lives. I'm sorry to say it, but you really aren't important in my life so get back into your cupboard and find someone else to annoy."
And then suck an Extra Strong Mint. That makes everything else taste foul.
On another forum I quoted 'Insanity does not run in my family. It strolls through, taking its time, getting to know everyone personally."
Perhaps you can see why.9I believe that friends are quiet angels

Hi all
Today I'm holding out for a gammon and veg dinner followed by peach sorbet (if they have frozen!). Will edit if it changes.
A bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it
