I have been reading this thread and similar ones on Facebook.
We were on the 2 week Discovery 2 cruise which started on 10th March but was terminated after 1 week.
We were promised 75% refund on the price of the 2 week cruise.
Today I have checked my Credit Card account, which I have been doing for a few weeks now, and found that Tui have put nearly £4k into my account on Monday.
I have not received any emails or phone calls to inform me about this.  I am glad I have something back from Tui, but it is not 75% of what I paid. it is actually 70%. I am £265 short, which works out as £353 of money spent.  I have no explanation why there is this discrepancy.
Hope you all eventually get your refunds.
We are also short by £952 🤷‍♀️

If it was a few quid I could understand but that's a fair chunk to miss out. If they can't do the refunds properly their phone lines will be clogged up again.
  • Can I ask a question on behalf of my elderly parents; they had a holiday paid off in full (due to fly 24/5/20) but opted to cancel mid March and as I understand lose their deposit ; whilst the cancellation was confirmed they have not received any refund despite initial advise this would repaid within 7 days; as the monies have not been repatriated are they now entitled to a full refund including deposit in light of today’s announcements?

No , they are entitled to what's left over of their deposit as they cancelled after fees.

Refunds in date of travel order so well down the queues

** UPDATE** Just received an email from Tui saying refunds in next 7-10 days. Mentions onboard letter promising a refund, but does not mention the amount stated in the letter.

Have most people receiving refunds had the full amount?
I received my 2 deposit payments back via the original payment methods, but not the final balance. They did email confirming the 2 refunds, with the remainder listed as "balance overpaid".

TUI cancelled trip on 8/4 (for 19/4). On 23/4 at 11:00 I asked for refund, processed while I was on the phone.  Midday cancelled email/refund confirmation arrived, following day it was already back on my c/c in full £4425, inc seat upgrades. 3 individual payments exactly as I paid.

I've a feeling that if you snooze, you'll lose!  Hope I'm wrong.

Our full amount has been sorted now. It's going to take 3-5 working days to go into our accounts.
The guy my partner spoke to was working from home.
Now to decide what to do about our August holiday if/when it gets cancelled. Refund or rebook 🤔
  • Hi, just wondering what your thoughts are on the offer of a voucher for the total if the holiday we paid? Tui say in the email that the voucher is covered by ATOL just like the package holiday was, we will be booking to go later in the year or next year,
I'm just concerned because I keep reading that you should get your money back incase they go bust, but if its still covered by ATOL and we can get 20% discount do people think this is a sensible option??
    Thanks

I think it's a sensible option if you are planning to rebook personally.

Others will probably take a contrary " it's you legal right to get your money back" Stance.

I think many are still  wary of whether the RCNs actually are covered by ATOL.  Particularly those who may not have no other options open to them to retrieve their money.

There's an article here: https://travelweekly.co.uk/articles/368930/government-refund-credit-guidance-delayed-again . Maybe browntoa can clarify, but my understanding was that even the CAA had not confirmed ATOL cover for vouchers. Too much still 'pending clarity' & maybe why MSE, WHICH & consumer groups still advise against (for now).

Personal reluctance is that & similar to loubylou, we have another trip booked for Sept, in Oct our annual travel insurance is due, expensive already with age & some declared issues, simply can't guage what this virus will be doing so vouchers of a hefty amount for yet another holiday, with no codiv cover isn't practical.
