  • We have a Tui cruise booked for September this year. I understand that this cruise may happen but we are quite scared to go anywhere this year. At the time of booking we paid the first low deposit of £150 the  £250 second half of the deposit was due on 9th April. We have not paid this. We don’t want to go on the cruise so if if we dont contact Tui and don’t pay the rest of the deposit and balance, can this be done.
    Thanks

By rights you owe them the rest of the low deposit as per your contract. If they choose to chase it.... 🤷‍♂️
  • Refund at last. Felt the need to feedback after the useful info given on here. Flight only due 8/4, cancelled 18/3. Waited until 3/4 and requested refund. Thought I’d got it. After updates on here thought I’d ring again 23/4 to be told all refunds being given 1/5. Alarm bells ringing now. Now I could be wrong but I think that’ll be refund credits. Rang again Monday refund processed part back to debit received Tuesday, part to credit card received this morning. So this is what I think happened and you may wish to check your emails - first email in hindsight was a cancellation (stated at the top) even though it also confirmed refund 28 days. Second email said refund (stated at the top) the refund date and what was going back to each card. You’ll know when they’re actually refunding as they’ll do it there and then confirming the details with you. I was told two to three days and that’s what happened. Hope this helps. My advice would be keep ringing if you desperately need your money they can give it. Oh and the reason for two cards was upgraded seats on debit so you will get upgrades back too.
  • I have had this message from Tui, I am wrong in thinking it is a bit !!!!!! cheeky, considering my 3-5 day refund is now weeks later and still no money in the bank??? :/

I am sorry to read that you did not receive the payment which was promised to you. I can understand your disappointment. However, due to current situation there might be a slight delay in refunds. Hence, I would kindly request you to wait for some days. I do apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused to you.

If everybody keeps ringing, won't that just clog up the system and result in an even bigger backlog of refunds?

Map your travel dates and refund requests onto the post by skidmarks1961 and see where you are along that timeline.
A 3-5 day refund may be a reasonable expectation during normal times but are we really living in normal times right now?

  • Hi,
We’ve just been chased up for the final payment of our holiday (mid August) would you pay the final amount knowing that the holiday isn’t going to happen?
Sorry if this has already been asked.......
    Many thanks

I have been reading this thread and similar ones on Facebook.
We were on the 2 week Discovery 2 cruise which started on 10th March but was terminated after 1 week.
We were promised 75% refund on the price of the 2 week cruise.
Today I have checked my Credit Card account, which I have been doing for a few weeks now, and found that Tui have put nearly £4k into my account on Monday.
I have not received any emails or phone calls to inform me about this.  I am glad I have something back from Tui, but it is not 75% of what I paid. it is actually 70%. I am £265 short, which works out as £353 of money spent.  I have no explanation why there is this discrepancy.
Hope you all eventually get your refunds.

We have had an email this morning stating our refund should be through today.  We paid separately using 2/3 debit cards but have still yet to receive the money physically into our accounts.
we are also £952 short so I don't know why that's not been refunded.

One of the cards was also stolen last last year and then cancelled so don't know how that works.
We've learnt from this whole nightmare, pay on ONE credit card once the whole balance is due and not before.

I will update once we actually see some money.

If you don't pay the final balance you will have cancelled your holiday and will lose your deposit.
    Read the TUI website:
There's a section on 'should I pay my balance?'

  • TUI have updated the website this morning and cancelled holidays to 11th June which includes ours booked through Hays travel. Is my contract the responsibility of Hays or TUI?
