My solicitor says she classes a house move as essential travel so believes we're still going ahead for Thursday. I'm not sure I'll really 100% believe it until it actually happens, though.
There isn't (yet) any legislation defining what's "essential" - and may well not be by Thursday. In the meantime the new stuff announced last night is all (as far as I am aware) merely "strong advice", not mandatory.

Spoke to my EA and solicitor this morning (we are due to complete on 30th, contracts already exchanged). EA were very relaxed and told us not to worry we would still be allowed to move, we just need to pick up keys directly from seller at the house. Our solicitor says legally we are still bound to the 30th and they have the capability to go ahead with that but were reluctant to give out any further info at this stage. Not convinced either way at the moment! The sellers currently live in the property so will likely depend on their ability /willingness to move i’d imagine!

can you not see this is a serious thread with people under extreme stress who want help/advice/answers for this specific issue. You are neither clever nor funny and I would ask admins to remove your post. save it for facepalm or twatter
Fine, I've deleted it ... thought a bit of humour might be appreciated in these times.

  • I've just got a phone call that I've completed! The solicitors said that any removal company already booked should go ahead.

I think most people that are even reading this thread are affected by the whole "moving" issue or the chances are we wouldn't be reading it (including myself!) ... we're all stressed and of course, understand that it's a serious issue for a lot of people.
