My farther rents out few of his properties to private tenants. To help out his tenants in this difficult situation he has given everyone a 50% discount on their rent for the next 4 months without penalty or any charges. I wish banks did this and gave everyone a mortgage holiday for a couple months without paying it back.

My local Lidl had some lovely large clean boxes just right for packing personal belongings when I move house soon - I asked them to keep some for me, the security chap at the door fetched them for me, a middle aged man in the queue waiting to do some shopping helped fit them one inside the other and a lady stepped forward to help me carry them to my home just across the road. Total strangers! How kind.0

Two of my new neighbours (I don't even know their names) have given gifts to my seven-year old daughter. I think that they were having a "Covid Clearout" but decided that my little girl was a worthy recipient of their unwanted stuff. My daughter is totally delighted with her new books and bracelet-making kit.1

Our favourite pub does a brilliant carvery for pensioners once a week. 2 courses for less than £10, home made desserts are amazing. We have heard they are still doing the carvery but delivering it to vulnerable local people. We went there just before the lockdown. The owner said he would be able to manage with a bit of government help. We are keeping our fingers crossed that they will survive so we can go again.
like a lot a rural pubs they are an important part of the community.
on the local news there have been reports of local chefs providing free meals for local NHS staff and the poorest local people in lockdown.
it has always been said that the British are at their best during times of emergency. (Big apologies to non Brits who are helping)0 -
My local chippie treated the 50+ residents at two care homes to fish and chips, with the fish donated by the wholesaler. Nice one!0

In the earlier days when supermarket slots had disappeared off the face of the earth, a Waitrose delivery driver turned up at the door with 2 bags of grocery essentials (including loo paper) for me, and 2 bags for my neighbour who is also a regular online customer.
As well as things like apples, potatoes a few tins and a bar of soap, Waitrose obviously consider Quality Street essential!
Anyway that really made my day.1 -
Oh we have received another large box of goodies from the local Mosque. I think they are doing another box because it is Eid, well that's what it said on the box. There's fruit and vegetables, biscuits, drinks and a curry too.
Happy Eid to anyone who celebrates it and have a fantastic BH weekend all.0 -

What a lovely thoughtful gesture.Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0 -
Got to work today to find a note through the door to say two packages had been delivered to the neighbours (residential property).
Called and a young lady didn't seem to know anything, but said come back later as her boyfriend was out.
Noticed two packages on a desk. Opened them and wondered if these were the packages which had gone next door, now safely delivered.
Went back next door, no reply.
Lunchtime: an Amazon delivery driver turned up to check we'd got our packages! I described them, he confirmed they were the ones he'd sent next door.
I thought that was over and above the call of duty!
And I dropped a note back through next door to thank them for taking the packages in.Signature removed for peace of mind0
