Norwegian cancelled my USA flights in early April. I applied for refund and they can't give me any date when they are going to refund me!!

I can't claim on my travel insurance as insurer is saying claim for airline. Airline can't say when they will refund me. So I am in limbo.

Can I get refund from credit card company which I used to book the ticket?

By law airline is supposed to refund within 14 days. But I read in news that they are lobbying for that to be extended to 4 months!!

How they are going to have more money after 4 months? They are not operating so they are not receiving new money from customers. Are they hoping they can get away with without refunding customers?

I'd be patient.  If a refund has been offered, it's likely that a credit card action won't work.

Unless you've been hit with a loss of income, the timing of the refund doesn't matter too much.  You were spending the money on flights anyway, so the money wouldn't be available to you if the virus hadn't hit, so unless there's an urgent need for the money, I'd wait and see what the airline does.

I am happy to wait but not indefinitely. Currently Norweigian is not saying when. Most claims expire after 90 days - especially my travel insurance claim.

Is there any danger of Norwegian "running the clock down" such that you cannot claim money back from your credit card provider?

I have now been sent link to take Cashpoints or fill out a form for a refund - The url is badly formed and does not work... More delaying tactics? This is 2 weeks after requesting a refund

I put our refund request in on 25th March. Managed to get onto Norwegian chat yesterday. Person said loads of refund requests and they are just being actioned in order of receipt. Said allow 7 to 10 working days. Getting a tad nervous now. We haven't been sent any comms about flight being cancelled. As I think i mentioned, when checked our online login and the app, flight cancelled and options to refund. I have also emailed travel insurance company asking at what point should I instigate claim on insurance and is there an expiry on that ... nothing heard yet ....

Norweigian Air is mostly likely in the process of trying to seek a Government bail out to stop itself from collapsing. Airlines the world over have difficult decisions to make at the current time. With over capacity in the short term a major challenge.

I put my refund in on the 24th March. Contacted them last week and they said claims are being " investigated" in the order that they were received and it would be weeks before it would be looked at. I never got an email or SMS to tell me my flight was cancelled, I only found out by logging on to my online account. My booking has since disappeared. I contacted my travel insurance who said I had 31 days to make a claim, although I can only claim if the company are refusing to refund, which they aren't at the moment, it's just taking a long time. All the time I'm waiting I'm getting charged interest on my credit card bill as I'm waiting for the refund to go back on. Need to contact my credit card company to see if I pay off the card, when I do eventually get the refund, then I can put the money back in to my current account without any penalties.
  • Just had more instant chat with Norwegian. No change in response I'm afraid. Refund requests are being dealt with in the order received. And be patient ..!! I asked if we will actually get money back. They said yes but might be a while. We are still yet to receive comms that flight cancelled, even though it was more than 3 weeks ago and I only found out about it when I logged on and booking said cancelled. Will try to speak to our travel insurance people and see if they can offer any advice. Although I emailed them weeks back but no reply as yet. They are inundated no doubt with current situation.

I haven't heard anything since I submitted my refund claim for £2,000 worth of cancelled flights on 24th March. Reading this I think we all have a zero chance of a refund
