Norwegian Air/CashPoints or refund?

Looks like they've been busy on refunds. I also got two emails about £2,000 worth of premium flight refunds last night. Submitted two claims on 24th March for 18th April LGW-JFK and 4th May ORD-LGW. Once the money hits my account I'll be able to tell Natwest to stand down with the Section 75 claim. Woot!1

We also got email last night saying our ticket refunds had now been processed and monies would be returned to credit card. Guess that will take a day or 2 to appear. I submitted refund claim on 25th March for New York flights going out on 19th April and returning on 24th April. Similarly once monies received we can inform travel insurance company and credit card company that thankfully we won't be needing them this time ..!!1

I had the below this morning from Norwegian Air, still only offering cash points, very annoying, our flights are 78 days away on the 6th August 2020....I think we are just going to have to hold out until they cancel our flights or they go under, no choice really:

Yes. Hold your nerve. Do nothing for now. Keep looking at whether they are booking flights on your travel dates. The email is very likely because they are about to cancel your flight and would rather you rescheduled or took the points before they do (and are therefore legally obliged to refund you while they remain in a position to trade)kamakazi999 said:I had the below this morning from Norwegian Air, still only offering cash points, very annoying, our flights are 78 days away on the 6th August 2020....I think we are just going to have to hold out until they cancel our flights or they go under, no choice really
Initially in March Norwegian cancelled all transatlantic flights up to 15th April. We were due to fly on 18th April. Eventually, around March 23rd, they cancelled the outbound flight on 18th April, but hadn't cancelled the inbound flight on May 4th. At that point I was able to submit a cancel and refund request - but even then I wasn't that bothered because of the Section 75 and travel insurance protection against them going bust.0 -
Hi - I was due to fly from London to Oslo on 16th June which is 4 weeks yesterday. The flights were cancelled yesterday morning. Looking on their website, it appears that all flights on this route have been cancelled up to the end of June.harz99 said:
Maybe I should have asked has anyone had an official "flight cancelled" communication from Norwegian for flights June onwards. People could do with an idea of how far in advance of the flight days they are officially cancelling - like Easyjet were saying so many days ahead.gbsc said:
From what I understand, if you decide to not travel before any official communication then it is classed as a disinclination to travel so unless your tickets are refundable you would not get your money back. Have you spoken to them yet? They were helpful-ish when I called them a while ago. They are still working their way through cancellations from the last couple of months so I doubt travel in November would even be looked at yet. It's been 2 months since I submitted a claim and a month and a half since I should have travelled and I'm still waiting.harz99 said:Has anyone submitted a refund claim yet for flights later in the winter period?
We have November flights from MIA to LGW booked and paid, that schedule has been withdrawn and is no longer available to book on the website but no "official" cancellation message received yet. As we have decided to leave at least another 12 months to elapse before attempting long haul Airpoints would not be an option
Hope this helps

Very helpful, if that follows for others, about 4 weeks ahead of flight dates to cancel, then probably another 4weeks until you actually get the cash back (it took me that long to receive a refund when they pulled the Singapore route).lizziep said:

Like others I got an email last night re getting refunded. Applied on March 24th and was due to fly April 4th. Hopefully won't be too much longer to wait.0

8 weeks to get your refund request processed than a further week to get you cash back - they have a backlog.harz99 said:Very helpful, if that follows for others, about 4 weeks ahead of flight dates to cancel, then probably another 4weeks until you actually get the cash back (it took me that long to receive a refund when they pulled the Singapore route).0 -
Just to correct myself- money in the bank after two days !insert_random_name_here said:.8 weeks to get your refund request processed than a further week to get you cash back - they have a backlog.1 -
