second memory, could you possibly tell me about this fabulous steamer? I have been looking for one but find it a bit confusing. I'm a great believer in steaming things and would love to find a really good one.
This is an excellent thread. Informative without the drama. Thank youI believe that friends are quiet angels

I'm bored after a week, and have just been told that as I still have a temperature I have to stay at home. Symptoms aren't right for coronavirus, but that would be the advice regardless. I'm just well enough to be bored but not actually well enough to do much. So plenty of laundry happening, a bit of cleaning and a lot of poking around on the internet.
Thankfully, due to my erratic work lifestyle (a lot of travel) most of my food is delivered by people who will leave it on the doorstep. Milk&More for dairy, some veg and all sorts of random stuff. Veg box scheme for veg, meat, tofu and other stuff.
Today I should probably do a freezer audit. The only things I really want to go out and get are cut flowers, growing herbs and frozen berries (I don't need them now, but have a bone graft on my jaw scheduled for the end of April and will be on soup and smoothies for several weeks after that). I've got a vague meal plan - lowering the calories to make up for inactivity, and making stuff to freeze for when I've had my mouth done.8 -
I live in Mallorca so we are almost on total lockdown although it’s rumoured we will be just like Italy is come Monday.

This is an excellent thread. Informative without the drama. Thank youYou can buy an actual steam mop for doing large areas of hard floor.I also have a small handheld travel steamer which I use instead of an iron! Just hang the item on a coathanger over the top of the door and waft the steamer over it so the creases drop out!Hope this helps! It’s second nature now to steam my coat and boots when I come in.7 -
Thanks second memory. I did have a floor steam mop when I had a much bigger house. Now I am in a little bungalow I don't have enough floor to warrant a steam mop so I was thinking of getting a Karcher type steamer and hoping it would have a clothes steamer with it. I'll investigate further.
My thinking is, that while everyone is very germ conscious at the moment, some of the measures that are being taken now might well be worth keeping up to deal with all sorts of hygiene issues in the future.
Thanks for your help.I believe that friends are quiet angels

i do wonder about steaming something that might have virus on - would it not be blowing it into the air for you to breath in?

I attend an IG clinic and it is something that they recommend in sick room nursing. More effective than a household cloth and detergent.Plus I never have to fight with the ironing board again! 😂7 -
I didn't even consider steaming clothes but I expect my OH will be pleased with that when he gets back tomorrow instead of me bundling him and his clothing in the washing machine, such a good idea. I bought myself a floor steamer in november [ i think, can't remember exactly] which has a removable hand held thingy so that'll come in useful. I'm isolating myself anyway due to being at risk and Ive had a cold last week that seems to be turning into a bit of bronchitis this week. Hope it stays manageable, don't fancy having to rock up at the docs or hopsital...My mother was italian and believed in having a full cupboard of food always [she did love to feed people] and luckiy I've emulated her in the last few years so no worries there. I should probably make a list of what's there so I can start with meal planning because I'm a bit scatterbrained normally...OH bought me Exploding Kittens last year for christmas and we haven't played it yet, so that'll be on the cards I expect [no pun intended], along with the XBox, Hearthstone and the computer, and numerous films, sewing and woodwork stuff, we won't be shy of things to do or ways of occupying our time. He'll be painting his little men anyway for a few weeks more. And spring is springing so that means seeds to sow, and I've just noticed the curtains in the downstairs toilet could do with taking up a bit so I might do them tomorrow....I did have a look at milk and more yesterday but the prices are quite high so I'm not going to take advantage of that for a bit..Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi7

I have noticed that some people are using precautions in shops today. One woman serving me was wearing plastic gloves
Had to fire off an email of a complaint yesterday to Waitrose. Was going to their cafe for coffee and cake and went to wash my hands first - no soap or hot water in the ladies loo! Told manager but thought it worth a shout out to their head office.7
