Covid-19 Isolation Support Thread

I think we need to distinguish between social distancing and quarantine type isolation. Being immuno compromised with a lung condition, I'm currently embarked on the former - though I'm in the middle of having a room decorated (it had to stop when I got admitted to hospital recently). I need it finished so we will have to work out how to do it. Plus I'm dithering about a long overdue hair cut. I look terrible. There again I would look worse dead! Otherwise I'm just building up stocks, plants and seeds through deliveries and getting on with it. I still get to see and talk to people but at a distance and I have plenty of email/online contact. I think this could be for several months but I'm a bit reclusive anyway so not too bothered. Plus cultivating some new interests.

This was from one of my groups.
I get a lot of support from my local group - even though I don’t have FND. 😂 it’s the one thing I don’t actually have 😂😂😂 The reason is I was tested for it at one point and I share the same neurologist as some of the people in my group - they don’t discriminate! 😂I often get snotty remarks when I stick up for FB but I couldn’t live without it.8 -

Confession time. Well before COVID-19, I’ve been hanging my outdoor clothes in the porch when I come in, and giving it the once over with my fabulous steamer. 🤪
You can clean most things with it! Although I’m a bleacher and love the smell of chlorine! 😂9 -
We are both in the at risk category, OH 87 and heart problems, Me in my 70's but also have a heart problem as well as raised BP for which I take medication. I decided last week to go through my cupboards and see just what we have in stock, ordered a delivery from Morrison for next week and did my usual shop at Aldi on Thursday. We do not go out a lot, so thats not a problem. Children have been told to keep in touch by phone. Hand washing done regularly. We have plenty of books to read, and also games we can play, large garden, so we can get some exercise and our neighbours are far enough away not to pose a problem. We also have lap tops so keeping in touch will also be ok. My hobby is sewing so that will keep me out of mischief. I can shut myself in my sewing room. There is a bed in there which I can use if needs be.
Just now we are semi isolating, but can go to full isolation if required. My only worry is putting on weight, both of us have spent the winter largely inactive because of the weather and my osteoporosis.
I do think this thread is a good move, it will help people to remain positive regardless. It is so easy for worries to take over in times of need.14 -

Had to fire off an email of a complaint yesterday to Waitrose. Was going to their cafe for coffee and cake and went to wash my hands first - no soap or hot water in the ladies loo! Told manager but thought it worth a shout out to their head office.13 -

I just went in a few local shops along my daily walk and spoke to the woman behind the till and she said she is feeling panic now and she is noticing people starting to bulk buy at her shop as they say the supermarkets don't have the products. She said someone had walked in that morning and bought 15 bags of pasta!12

May I join in too ? This is a really good idea for a thread if only to keep up spirits or give support. Thank you oceanspirit.DH has several health issues including cancer and diabetes so is high risk. We have been upping our stocks for the past few weeks (we prep for winter anyway ) and could probably do 2 months isolation, maybe 3 but after that if there are no home deliveries meals will be interesting to say the least. The only problem we have is DH's 3 monthly injection due mid April, we have yet to sort that one out. We have lots of things to do around the house and garden that have been pending for a long time, so hopefully they will be addressed. We also have an X box and playstation with quite a few games ( we are both in our 60's but still young at heart ) I'm also an avid reader and I have a few huge jigsaws untouched. DH loves u tube and has a man cave aka the shed. So fingers crossed we will be ok. Hope everyone stays safe and well.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently12
