“People are dying that have never died before” Ooh well, if I'm going to get a second chance, I won't worry so much.
I reckon I've been pretty well self-isolating for a few years now because of being almost immobile (and always was a solitary type) so the additional limitations won't be too difficult and I'm surrounded by my hobbies and books.
I've managed with great difficulty to order a Waitrose delivery for 3 weeks ahead, 1st available. It took me 3 hours trying about every 5 minutes, more or less in the middle of the night. Just as well I'm not busy.
A neighbour I hardly know has kindly put a note through my door which said to tell her if I need shopping. That made my day!
At the moment I'm well stocked, probably as a result of a panic about 2 years ago when I was unable to order online for a while, so after that I kept in more tinned and packet food and a spare pack of loo roll at the back of a cupboard which I'd all but forgotten.7 -
Anyone who feels their brain needs or will need more stimulation while isolated could look at the King William College Christmas quiz. It's a challenge! Half the time you have to work out what the questions mean before you can even start to answer them. Google "King William College quiz"5

My my temperature is still up 😔 so i’m going to have to take paracetamol - I only have enough for 3 days.Anyone nears could give you some or get some for you? What area are you.?I wish we still had where we are on the profiles, It would make things easier at this time.I've checked, and can take the anadin extra that I've got. Apparently it's likely that I do have the virus, as I'm on day 20 and generally colds/flu don't have the fever for so long. I'm just grateful that it's not that bad - I'm still working (although how effectively is debatable!) which is a good distraction from the incarceration. I do get jealous of people talking about what it's like out in the big wide world though - I'd quite like to see the inside of a shop and have the option of buying whatever someone has left on the shelves. On the other hand, I'm hugely grateful that my veg box scheme, the milkman, and my freezers are allowing me to carry on eating healthily. I'm planning meals carefully and making sure I get plenty of fresh veg and protein. I'm going for two 10 minute walks a day (up to the road, along the main road, home through the field - never see anyone!) and doing the odd bit of gardening so that I don't feel completely useless. A bit of work and a lot of sleep. Aches and pains have now gone, headaches tend to be in the morning. Cough is horribly dry but less frequent.

Women and cats will do as they please and men and dogs should get used to it.;)

Only spotting this thread today! Going a little potty already, and it's only just into week 2 of "social isolation". Both myself and hubs are working from home, as are most people we know. Trying to juggle a full workload on top of entertaining a toddler is proving tricky.
Rumours abound that schools and childcare won't reopen til end of April!4 -
Ironically during this period of 'social isolation', people in the village are talking to each other more than ever! I'm getting texts and emails and notes through the door offering help and on the rare occasion our paths cross when dog walking etc, we stand well away from each other (I aim for 15-20 feet) ask how the other person is doing and have a good old moan!

Just listened to Boris announcing the closure of pubs, clubs, restaurants etc. can't help but feel all shops apart from food and chemists will be next. Also, where the heck is the government getting all this money from all of a sudden....they couldn't find it for the NHS before. Has Rishi got a secret money tree in his garden?9

We are self isolating over 70 with underlying issues. I realised what could happen so 2 weeks ago stepped up my order at Aldi and again last week. Yesterday I had an order delivered from Morrison, they have no delivery slots left this month, I can manage for at least a month but things could become a bit fraught after that. Finger crossed they open new slots in April. Whats going on at supermarkets is ludicrous.supermarkets are opening for the elderly, queues are forming and the shelves cleared by 10am. Its time that Mr J brought the army in to control this, its outrageous. I know of one person who goes in every day. I can see loads of stuff being thrown away because it has gone off and why people need so much toilet paper amazes me, how many bottoms do they have to wipe one asks ones self, the street??????5

They don't have the money. They're going to borrow it. They've got no choice.
They're actually moving pretty quickly, but I'm guessing the drip feed is a. so we can get used to things (relatively) gradually, b. so they can do the red tape and c. so they can tweak things. Hopefully these extreme measures will mean that both the population AND the economy will survive.
I am HUGELY unimpressed by a local pub posting that they're 'devastated to be told we have to close, we have loads of food and booze, so come tonight for a closing party'. !!!!!! do they not realise WHY they are closing? Why on earth didn't they foresee this and either close earlier (which our two village pubs did) or sort out takeout/delivery options (which lots of local restaurants and pubs are doing)?12
