Halifax ask us to have greater than 0 balance by midnight to be on track for the reward.
It's mentioned in the FAQs.
This a good question as DC payments can take up to 3 working days to clear in your Halidax transactions list. As such please do not leave it to the end of the month as it may roll over to the first or second of the next month, the clearance that is. And in this scenario you would miss out.
My strategy is to get the DC payment out of the way first thing in the month.
Good luck!
For all options balance must be > 0 or you won't get the reward for that month.
Hence why it's one bullet point in the tracker in fact.
I think I read in the FAQs that balance = 0 is also accepted but I wouldn't risk it.
Key point is being overdrawn for 2 minutes or hours makes no difference, as long as your balance is positive before midnight you are fine.1 -

For those who didn't get paid £2 reward on 1st June, please check your account now as it seems mine was credited yesterday (5th May)

I didn't request my account to be kept as a Reward Account, but have since signed up for Rewards Extra for 12 months via the app. Wonder if they'll keep my choice active.0

My Reward account is still flagged as a Reward Account, but is still showing how the Reward is £2 per month. Clicking through further I am told, though, that I have selected the £5 on £500 spent via Debit Card - and there's a sting in the fine detail:It also invites me to use their "Tracker" to see how I'm doing in meeting the criteria, This currently tells me that £X has been paid into my account so far this month - which is about a quarter of the true amount. So, what do Halifax mean by the terms queried in the above link - and in this tracker system? (Have asked HX - they don't know.)

I can't fit their figure to any consecutive groups of days at all!BTW the new exclusion under Reward Extras regarding Debit Card transactions is "When you make a money transfer to another account.". When does anything you do with a Debit Card not involve a money transfer to another account?

I thought it had been in there for a while, if not all along? While I acknowledge that it isn't strictly-speaking a "money transfer" I assume what they mean by this is that a debit card deposit into another account won't qualify.

It is unlikely to include the transfer of money to a merchant for goods and services, and people have already confirmed that they appear to have qualified for things that could constitute depositing funds to another financial account in their name. So the mystery remains. Perhaps there is to be a list of specifically excluded items and people will find what works one month will cease to work the next. Though I'm not sure how they would do so in a clear, fair and not misleading manner.0
