Halifax Reward Account changing to £3 charge with “lifestyle rewards”

They make the rules for the offer. They could even have gone as far as not offering any rewards at all. Instead, they have kindly chosen to replace the old £2 offer with a £5 one, and to remove the 2 DD requirement. I quite like the new offer, with all its rules, but everyone is free to decline the offer if they don't like it.mau408 saidWhy do they think it is just that they can they delay the reward payment by 12 days? What is the reason for this?0 -
I can't see anything misleading. They made it very clear from the start that if you wanted to keep your Reward account after June 1 2020, you'd have to pay a monthly fee which they'd waive if you pay in £1,500 a month, and that you had a choice of rewards. If you now don't want the reward for some reason, you simply don't bother with the eligibility criteria. You can also close or switch your account any time you like.mau408 said:

I use chrome, but I can not see the tracker in online banking either just the app...soulsaver said:

The tracker in the App says I need to pay in £1500 to qualify for the £5 reward, and it says I'm not on track to receive this because I haven't met this requirement.General_Grant said:Fingerbobs said:My salary goes in on the last working day of every month, so for virtually the entire month I'm going to show as "not on target".
I take it that you are referring to your salary going in because that would fulfil the £1.5K deposit criterion to avoid payment of the £3 fee. That is just that, avoidance of the fee. It does not affect achievement of the "reward" so that aspect can be achieved early on in the month if you are using the DC spend for this.
I've never been able to see the tracker on the Web site - I just get an error message.0 -
They wouldn't do a thing like that surely like Nationwide have.0

The implication is that after 31st May 2021 you can choose another offer for the following 12 months so there would be no need to close the account. Of course anything could happen between now and then that could stop Halifax continuing the offer but the presumption is that will be the case. This is where the terms and conditions you highlighted about how long the subsequent offer runs for will come into play.mau408 said:Thanks for your replies and I understand what you are saying. Yes it clearly says comes effect on 1st June, I concur, but the example at the back doesn't. It says that it comes into effect on the day you sign up for it. Thanks I haven't got the app it just says I will get paid the bonus on the 12th. It just so happens I rang on the 12th May but now realise this is a coincidence. So I expect a final payment on the 12th June 2021. (Better not close the accounts before then.) Why do they think it is just that they can they delay the reward payment by 12 days? What is the reason for this?

If the letter is aimed at reward accounts changing. Why would you give the example at all? And why can't you see the full terms and conditions before the 15th May 2020 when you had to sign up by?
I had to make the decision to update my account before the 15th May. Yes I can leave if not happy but then could you get the old 3 accounts open (now only allowed 2), its not the fact that I am unhappy with the new way and the fact that direct debits are now not required its the will it apply when I sign up date or 1st of June.
In fact at one point I remember the linked website said it wouldn't take effect until July - I think I have the snapshot somewhere, and had to sign up by a June date!
I rang up and they said I didn't have to sign up until June, and it wouldn't apply until July, but I didn't believe them, and just incase rang up on the 12th May. What more can I say on how Halifax has done this changeover.0 -
Reward accounts opened before 13th March 2020: new reward criteria comes in on 1st June. Needed to sign up by 15th May if wanted to keep accounts as reward accounts from 1st June.mau408 said:If the letter is aimed at reward accounts changing. Why would you give the example at all? That explains the misleading information. I'm almost certain it wasn't as explicit as that when I looked half a month ago.Ed-1 said:
