What a bizarre attitude, its not about that, its about operating a service in a proper way, most delivery services reserve an item when its ordered, its just a "normal" way of doing online delivery.
The only food delivery service of significant scale is Ocado.  All the other supermarkets' websites are not bespoke delivery services, they are simply in-store shopping on behalf of the customer.

I'm not sure why you think not having items reserved for you makes you second class?  I can't walk into a supermarket and ask them to put aside certain items for me on a future date.  All customers are being treated the same.

The typical cost of picking and delivering and online grocery order is around £18, so even if you're paying £10 (which sounds very high), it's being subsidised.

How bizarre is Chrysalis' attitude.  IMO all online delivery slots should now be reserved for the over 70s, essential workers and those who have to self isolate on orders of NHS.  Those of us who are younger can get in the car and go to the supermarket.  I am a year or two younger than 70 and that is what I do.  I would be ashamed of myself for booking online delivery when there are more needy out there.

I’m 70 plus and self isolating. I wouldn’t go quite as far as PennyForThwm but I do think better arrangements could be made é.g offering slots to ‘registered’ customers; NHS staff the vulnerable and 70 plus, before they are released to the general public. That should help to sort the problem out
My current order was placed on the 21 March and won’t be delivered until the 6 April

I'm finding this issue very frustrating. My mum has been a Tesco home delivery customer for over 2 years, she is 92 and not in good health with poor eyesight. I can't even book a click and collect for her, let alone a delivery slot. This morning I was awake at 5.15 so had a look then, and all the new day's slots were already booked. The gov.uk thing for signing up is useless as her medical conditions are not listed and apparently just being over 90 doesn't make you vulnerable enough.

I have completed the gov.uk/coronavirus-extremely-vulnerable registration on the 12 week letter.
Does anyone know how long it takes for the supermarkets (in my case Ocado) to link into this ?

As an update to my post of 4th April "I have completed the gov.uk/coronavirus-extremely-vulnerable registration on the 12 week letter.

    Came through yesterday evening.

    Hello,
My last Ocado order arrived last Saturday.  I've been trying to place another order (for another 2 week's time, I'm being reasonable) but I just get a message from the Ocado website saying I'm not in the priority access list yet and that next day delivery slots are being released daily.  Today I got an "access denied" message.  So I can't even get into the virtual queue to see if there are any delivery slots.
Obviously I am aware of the restrictions and Ocado being at x10 capacity, but assumed you could still join a virtual queue.  Or do I have to wait until Saturday (7 days since last delivery) to be able to get into the website?  When is the best time to get a delivery slot if and when I can get back in?

  • As at 3pm Tuesday 7th April, I find myself in the same boat at GarciaLorca. My family of 7 had an Ocado order delivery on Tuesday 31st March. I have also been trying to get a slot for about two weeks time, but have also now received messages saying 'Access Denied'. One can only assume that either there is an error on the Ocado site, or that they are potentially denying access to customers who have had a recent order, for a predefined period of time. This would allow others less fortunate, to get an order (which is fine).
It would just be helpful to know which it is, and what time periods to wait for, or to retry at.
Any help from Ocado reps, or anyone would be gratefully received.
    Thanks. Steve

Thanks Steve - agree, even if it's to prioritize less fortunate people, it would be helpful to understand what the policy is.
