Online shopping delivery slots during crisis

I've been a customer of Iceland for years and used their online shopping service up until this crisis but when I log on no slots! the boxes don't really do what we need, our son will only eat certain foods due to childhood swallowing issues making it necessary for us to shop in the bigger supermarkets. As for family and friends and lifts, everyone is isolating so how does that even work?JulieM said:Have you tried Iceland? You'd need to register with them first then check if they deliver to your area, but they do seem to have more available slots than the others. Or look at Morrisons or M & S who both do a range of Food Boxes. You would have to specifically search for 'Morrisons Food Boxes' or 'M & S Food Boxes' not their usual websites.Wins: 2008: £606.10 2009: £806.24 2010: £713.47 2011: 328.320 -
if you are in luck you might find a local minicab willing to pick up a bunch of shopping bags left outside your door and take them round to your relatives or friends (or vice versa) so no personal contacts involved either way.raphanius said:

Exactly, there is lot of help out there both businesses and members of the public. No one's problems are unique, on my local FB page a mum had run out of the only shaped pasta her autistic son would eat and where she usually shopped didn't have any. Soon people were able to post where they had seen it for sale locally, and some had spare packets they were happy to donate.p00hsticks said:If you do Facebook, see if there is a local support group for you area - look on https://covidmutualaid.org/Obviously it depends where you are, but my local group has lists of lcal small businesses (butchers, greengrocers, convenience stores and wholesalers) that will deliver, as well as individuals both offering and asking for help.Or try on you local council website to see what support is available1 -

I got another Ocado slot 2 weeks after my last one, so they are keeping their word on that. In the mean-time I got one of Morrisons new meat boxes for the in-between week, just trying not to have to go to any supermarkets. I can't drive and my husband has no clue, so any that won't let couples in are a no-go. If an item isn't there he will not have any idea what to get. We did manage to get a few things from B&M and Iceland when out walking.
The queue outside our local Boots is ridiculous, it stretches 100 yards up the MIDDLE of the footpath in front of other shops, you can't get past without going within a couple of feet of the people queuing! It's right beside the main road through town, so you can't just go on the road. Why don't they stay near the building to allow others to pass? They lock the door as each person goes in...1 -
See if theres a local group who will help you out, get on Facebook and look, there are ways you just have to look for them.raphanius said:

Your local councillor might have details if your not on Facebook.0 -
I used to shop almost exclusively @ Tesco - sometimes in store sometimes online. We're both over 70 with underlying health conditions, (not on the vulnerable list). I've been logging in at all times of the day & night, including 3.15am as I couldn't sleep. Still can't get a slot for either delivery or click & collect. Availability of slots obviously depends on where you live. I've just about given up so once a week we walk the 2 mile round trip to local Co-op for essentials, and get some exercise at the same time.sarah1972 said:Just logged into Tesco and there are slots available for every day next week, Just booked on for Thursday0 -
Morrison's online.
Elderly parents ( 89 & 88 ) used Morrison's online shopping & had deliveries to their address for years.
Now when they try to order they get a message ' Sorry we don't deliver to your address' !!!!
They presume this is because they have no delivery slots.
Why do Morrison's not say that then !!!

I booked a Tesco delivery for next Tuesday at 9 am this morning, this was after two weeks of randomly checking for delivery slots. There is no pattern to the slots being released, you just have to keep checking during the day and have your order ready, keep updating it to what is available even if you cannot get a delivery slot. Good luck everyone with getting your delivery!1

I got a slot early Friday morning, (1.45am) but not to 1 May. They must just have been released for I had the pick of any slot I wanted.
I do note, however, that a number of smaller supermarkets and the larger convenience store are doing deliveries. Their prices may be a little higher but at least they’ll deliver within a day0
