Their thick pork sausages were found to contain the minimum amount of meat legally allowed and still be called pork sausages (42% pork). It was even less than the supermarket own brands, which were also tested.
given the present situation it is inevitable that someone somewhere will be taking maximum advantage to line their own pockets, but let's not make it too easy for them.4 -
We tried some of the Morrisons chipolatas that were in the food box for lunch today. They're in natural skins, which I can't stand, so I skinned them and made them into patties and dry fried them to let out the fat. They were very nice and really meaty.

Can someone please tell me when the new Tesco Delivery slots are annoyed there never seems to be any - I am sure that some greedy sl*bs are bulk booking - any other ideas why?

I'm convinced they are not being released as previously, but as and when they have capacity.
I tried three supermarkets at random times of day, took several days for me to get lucky with Iceland, next day delivery.1 -
Re. Tesco delivery slots. I tried last night at midnight (when they are meant to get released) and was completely unable to get on the website - held in a queue then unable to connect. Has anyone else had any luck or can give any tips? Thanks0

All the big supermarkets are the same.I heard/read somewhere that deliveries have increased by around 60%, so it's hardly surprising that we are all struggling to get a slot.Sorry - I know it's no consolation if, like me, you have no way of getting to the shops.2

If you've already had the letter from the government saying you're in the vulnerable category then you should be able to get prioritised delivery slots, but how you prove it is anyone's guess.
Also, if anyone is unable to get out to do shopping and struggling to get an online order, consider contacting one of the many mutual aid groups that have been set up across the country and ask for some help: https://covidmutualaid.org/local-groups/0 -
I wonder if this this would work for the over 70’s, the vulnerable, or essential workers like NHS staff.
Say for example that the big supermarkets normally release their slots 14 days in advance. Now we all know that these are snapped up almost immediately.
But say for example that you fall into one of these groups, would it be possible for the supermarkets to offer these individuals a slot one day ahead of when their delivery slots are normally released to the general public? (Call them ‘Reserved Slots’)
For the first few weeks it might be difficult to organise, if for example you had received an ordinary delivery a few days before the next ‘Reserved Slots’ were been released you wouldn’t really want another delivery that soon!
How would it operate. One way might possibly be the driver booking a slot in for you, and when he gets back to base they would be entered into their delivery database. That’s just one crude idea but I hope you get my drift, I’m sure there are plenty others and I’m sure we would like to here them
I'm writing this in the hope that supermarkets are watching this thread0 -
We were hoping to book our first online shop tiday and got nowhere near lucky. I logged into the Tesco one and all the available slots were booked up for three weeks. Then I created a login on Iceland, it let me fill the basket, then when I tried to book a delivery date, it needed proof that I was self isolating or at risk. No joy with Sainsburys either. The local Waitroses are limiting shoppers to their stores, to one per family, which I think is a great idea, so may have to get masked and goggled up and do a live shop.0
