Just tried to see where I was going to do tomorrows shopping!  Just too much like hard work!  So landed up just checking the 2 most expensive items, the rest Home Bargains & Aldis here I come - they don't sell the others.  What do they say - you don't realise what you've got until you lose it - well I realise it - if the big 6 have triggered this I hope they will soon realise it.

After the recent demise of Mysupermarket.co.uk i wonder if i have to check big 4 prices manually or is there an alternaltive, i found this website a good time saver but they have took a business decision and we need to move on!

Shame to see it go. It provided a really useful way of working on cheapest prices for things. Especially non-food household products: e.g. shampoo, shower gels, etc. - we would actively do a 6-monthly big shop for those kind of products and target an area that had the different shops and get our chosen items from the cheapest places.

Definitely an opportunity to setup an alternative price comparison type site for supermarket products - there is definitely a demand for it.

is it just me or does anyone else think it's strange how MSE/Martin aren't commenting on this story (other than reporting the initial story of it closing)??.........

In my view, Supermarkets (as big giant corporations) doesn't like services like these like doing this type of 'appy' helps for price savvy consumers....this definitely will act as a deterrent factor in retaining 'loyalty' footprint of customer base.
For e.g Sainsbury's recently started introducing 'nectar prices' for selected labels/categories to increase brand loyalty.

It was working on the website on 2nd and I think on 3rd too, then it went down.
No matter, it's easy enough to have a tab open for the different supermarkets and you then search what you want and compare that way, product by product.

Surely the owners of this site (the MoneySuperMarket Group) could find a way to make money out of purchasing the website and other related assets from Mysupermarket Ltd?

I'm guessing they sold on their price data to other companies, despite the subscription-free model for consumers, and I'm also guessing that MoneySuperMarket Group could, with its knowledge and resources, find a way to monetise the purchase.

Give us all a nice surprise, MoneySuperMarket - add it to your armoury.  And ours.  It was the only simple and quick way to check the price of a product across all the main supermarkets.  Shopping will never be as simple again.
