Mysupermarket closing - alternatives?

Maybe that explains why I've had a normal price alert email from them this morning (a very useful one as it happens) - despite the fact that the website now just goes to a holding page about the closure. Fingers crossed that a rescue may yet happen.

I'm back o this post again, surprised that I'm receiving price drop alerts after the closure date! My first thought was maybe the site is still open bus alas not. Could be these prices were known about before the 1st0

The internet is littered with comparison sites for everything. Insurance, utilities etc. but the annual cost of these is nothing for most of us compared to the what we spend in supermarkets on an annual basis so I find it staggering that MySupermarket was the only comparison site for groceries and now even that has gone. The goodbye notice from the CEO on the website claims that tens of millions of people used the site over the years. If that is true, was it not making a healthy profit? I would gladly have subscribed or put up with far more adverts to continue to use it.

I was in Bookers today and working out if something was cheaper in the supermarket. I opened up the Mysupermarket website, and a notice of closure was there. I tried the app and nothing happening. Never had the email so a complete surprise to me. I have used it regularly to find the lowest price on the everyday products I used.
I do hope it is bought ora replacement found. I looked at Google shopping, and it compares only online shopping and won't always let you see other supermarkets.0 -
This a shame as like other posters I used it to see who had what on offer, much easier than going to the website of each retailer.0

Such a shame that Mysupermarket has closed
I used it every week and would happily have paid an annual subscription for this service. As someone said earlier, with all the insurance comparison sites and their like and yet only one price comparison for supermarkets and now that's gone it's such a shame. Come on Martin snap this one up please.

It may be the cost of aggregation of retail prices, i.e supermarkets would have charged a hefty price tag to sell their own pricelists in bulk every week to MSM - forcing them out of business. It is hard to sustain the operating model with just ad revenue given the scale of operation, especially when there is no click thru' revenue.Sad to see them going out, it has helped me save £100s in the last 3-4 yrs especially FMCG items.
