Quick question for Monmouthshire RS, it states to pay in use "Monmouthshire Building Society" as the account name, but my bank only allows 16 characters (i.e. "Monmouthshire Bu") for a payee name. Does anyone know if this will cause issues please? Thanks
The name doesn't matter. As long as you get the sort code, account number, and reference right, your payment will arrive ok.

No, it isn't checked. I've been sending my deposits to my name.

    Is that for a cheque?
With a bank transfer it doesn't really matter - as long as you use their bank details and add your account no in the reference box it will get there.
I would put Monmouthshire BS anyway.

Are there any cheques that limit the payee name to 16 characters?

    Worth mentioning T&C:
1.3 You can only be named on one Regular Saver (including any subsequent issues) at any one time.

Which company does this refer to please?

DD has just had a letter from Nationwide saying that the BoE rate reduction has forced them to reduce the rate they are paying on her FlexOne RS. It was a great account as it was started when she was 16 but you could continue to pay in till 23 - hasn't been available to open for a while.
Sadly the rate is now dropping from 3.5% to just 1%. I am surprised it lasted this long.

Some Building Societies don't allow transfers out by Faster Payments or BACS, and the only other transfer options they offer are chargeable (e.g. CHAPS), but you can usually withdraw your money in the form of a cheque free of charge.

I think it's a prelude to some forthcoming spam. This user's previous post was a copy-and-paste of an earlier post from this thread (i recognised my own words!)

I think you might be right, as the second post is also a copy-and-paste 😂
